Absolutely fascinating as ever... Your videos were the first I found when I moved from a small display in the front of the house to creating the whole walk through display taking over the entire back garden. Not many of us doing it in the UK... yet... but there are some.

We started out on Halloween Forum as well. That was the original and then started reading Haunt Forum as well. I think you guys were the first haunters I started watching on KZbin and it was like the best thing ever. Your tutorials and stuff were so great and it was easier to learn from then just some pics on a forum. Also started following Steve's Haunted Yard around the same time. But yeah, that's totally how we started too. Exactly right about the cemetery! First stuff we built were foam tombstones and PVC candles. I think the next year we added a crypt wall and a monster mud reaper, which seemed so big and crazy to build at the time! We got to be on Haunters Hangout once and I still proudly display my 2015 best display home haunt from the Dead with Dave awards show. Good times!

This is amazing! Everything you have discussed is about the same way I got into haunting! Even watching Steve’s Haunted Yard forever ago since I’m also in Texas. The forum was the place, then the was the monster prop link page. Later on The Garage of Evil was the most fantastic page. Thank you for sharing your path. Was so fun to remember!

You tube was where I first crossed paths with other Halloween fans. I was a "haunter" just didn't know the term until then. It did seem like a small community a time ago when I had posted my first video in 2008. I explored other channels and found many interesting ideas and tutorials. My original core I followed included: Steve's Haunted Yard, Joiseygal, Ghoulish Cop, Pandemic Cemetery, Scottsquatch, Dead Things Yard Haunt. I miss the daily/weekly uploads of most of those folks. Some have moved on but others like Hollywood Haunters have come to the forefront and I've enjoyed all the great content you've made. Like my own, your haunt came from humble beginnings. I appreciate that you continue to post your builds and keep inspirations alive. Because I got so much out of the video community I try to give back by making and posting my diy projects when I can. These days, it seems like people are going other places for their Haunt fills and so maybe I'm missing out. I've never visited the online sites much, is there one that's the most popular?
@HollywoodHaunter2 жыл бұрын
That's a good question 🤔 I guess it really depends on which social media site you like using the best. We enjoy videos the best so we look at KZbin the most. Facebook is good for categories and groups of interest. Pinterest is good for inspiration. Instagram is good for pictures of people you like to see their work and updates of projects. We don't really use Twitter, tik Tok or forums so can't offer much advice on those platforms.

I was in Halloween Forum as well! I got alot info from that site! We used the info on several projects. Some instructions were removed. We were able to figure things out from the pictures. One prop we were able to use the "way back machine" to find the instructions. It was a horse drawn carriage hearse. I still their projects on Pinterest.

I didn’t realize haunters were a thing until about 10 years ago! My parents had very few Halloween decor, only from when I was under 8 probably, so it was mostly die cuts and 1 plastic inflatable skeleton, like pool toy inflatable. Yet when I was a teenager, I’d work with whatever I had to make the most of it to scare kids! Eventually I made decorations myself, and when I bought my first home I was so excited to do it all myself! Once I discovered home haunting was a thing I knew I’d found my people!

This recent series has been a LOT of fun! A few related random thoughts and observations: - It's great that there are 'theater kids' out there that are ready and willing to get on camera and provide entertaining 'how to' videos (some of us wouldn't get in front of a camera for anything) - The Halloween community is the most open, welcoming, and encouraging group I have ever encountered - The forums are definitely still there, and have a relatively active batch of regulars (all things considered) Good stuff, guys!

I love these video chats with you two and the old photos and videos! I was similar with loving horror since I can remember. In late elementary school (in the 80s), I had the great idea to decorate our front yard with a homemade cardboard tombstone and then stole some dirt from the back to create a "just buried" look. I'm sure it was unimpressive, but I was so proud at the time, haha! Thanks again for giving us a bigger peek into your history :)

Love to hear other Halloween fans origins story! Maybe its so I don't feel like such a weirdo my self! Lol, great story. Mine started in the 80s and loved FX in the movies especially old school horror! So I grew up dreaming of being an FX artist and Halloween became that creative outlet! Too bad my wife doesn't have the same enthusiasm. On the other hand we might be in real trouble with it getting too crazy if she did! Lol, thanks for sharing your story!

@@HollywoodHaunter Nightmare On Elm Street part 3 is my favorite! Nightmare On Elm Street part 4 is the 1st movie I seen as a kid in the 80s, which was the peak of the franchise back then. The character Freddy Krueger the glove and the whole dream world, so creative!

Hahaha trying to remember, what's that? not saying U old LOL... Hey anyway... we all have that first time that we find the inspiration and then we know we're hooked for life. As I do this year by yearsssss.... I come to realize that haunting is just another form of a performance art and story telling, with or without actors, even if those actors are animatronics. Every prop has a story, or fits into a story... well... except for my neighbor that tries to fit every misfit prop he's purchased at Walgreens, Amazon, Costco... or where ever he finds them, so his 18 foot walkway to his front door is cluttered and looks like the grandma's attic of Halloween props... there's no hope for that guy... 🤣but for the rest of us that takes time to put together a haunt, develop a theme and backstory... that's the fun part! P.S. Just kidding, we're good friends and I appreciate his efforts, nobody else around does anything at all!
