I did the same install on my wife's 2001 Mazda Tributes leather seats (same interior as a Ford Escape) we sold it to our daughter and they are still working fine 15 years later.....the only small problem I had was not leaving enough extra electric cord under the passenger's seat (the plug would come undone when the seat was slid all the way back) but that was an easy fix. Great Product!!............. I got lucky , most of the seat cover attachments were velcro

Great video, helps that you’re realistic about the difficulties getting the fabric off. Probably the hardest part of the install.

This is the third install video I've watched on these seat heaters. What sets yours above the rest was when you showed how many amps the seats were using on both the low and high setting. Just what I was looking for, thanks!

You're welcome Steven. They still work great years later. I even used the second heating pad on a temp switch to keep the lithium batteries in my RV above freezing.

I have not done a car seat, but I did do the seat on my motorcycle. I agree it does make a huge difference for cold weather riding.

Nice work Brian! It's good to see you on line again. Seems like it's been ages since we've seen one of your terrific videos. The car I now have does have heated seats and I have to say that when it -6 degrees (like this morning) they certainly do feel nice!

I got a dud on Amazon had to return the set (of 2). After the 1st ones not working I looked around for good reviews of ones that worked. Crimestopper HSK150 seems to be pretty good and found it on Walmart for 30 each seat. I bought only one this time to test it in case this experiment craps out again. It worked well and I found the same model being sold on eBay for even cheaper by the same seller (22 shipped). Unfortunately the one of the switches didn't light up, but the seller sent a replacement switch very quickly. The install took 4-5 hours PER seat. Wiring took another few hours. I know that sounds insane but between taking in and out the seat and dealing with those metal rings was a nightmare. Wish I saw your video first for the tip about the zip ties. They are a LIFESAVER. I'm embarrassed to say I spend close to 15 hours on it though. Now if there was an easy way to heat the steering wheel.

I hear ya. I still haven't installed the heating pad in the second seat. I don't feel like removing and tearing apart another seat. Too much effort :)

Great info without all the b.s. so many others have. I would have liked for you to talk about the product more. How long did it take for you to feel the heat? How warm did it get on low/high? What limits the heating. Some products when they reach the heat limit go off and don't come back on for a long time. I'm wondering about this for car camping. Again thank you for the straight forward approach.

Thats Great Brian as a mechanic myself I would say you did a good job. I didn't let my wife view this video with me as I don't want to give her any ideas for me. Anyways I was wondering if your side view mirrors are heated on your RV as mine is a 2008 Four Winds 28A with the Chevrolet 6.0. As if they are then your lucky as I am not so much as I have had issues mostly at higher altitudes with rainy cold weather fogging them up along with rain droplets. I recently saw a kit on ebay to put a heater between the mirror and the plastic part inside. As those premade heated and adjustable mirrors are like $400 each side. Anyways I just need them to be heated. I would like to see you try it first so I don't destroy mine in the process as being a mechanic and all I do have limitations especially to stuff like that.Mike

Thanks Mike. In fact my RV mirrors are heated, but I don't use that feature much. Probably a good idea keeping the video from your wife. She might get the kit for you for Valentine's day or something :)

Does the black ground wire just get grounded somewhere on the car where it’s metal?
@konaniah

Nice presentation, however I have a question, if my car fuse box have dedicated seat heater slot and I want to use fuse tap may I stick the fuse on the top slot and leave the bottom one empty? I also checked other people's you tube clips and they were mentioning to determine load side and draw side on the fuse before stick it into fuse box, is it necessary to do that?

Did you do 1 or 2 seats? I'm doing both front seats. Wondering if I can splice both positive reds and go to one 10 Amp fuse. I plan to ground both at same source.

is that high pitch noise when you switched it to high from the inverter you are using? its not coming from the seat heater components right? lol I think the noise would heat my gf up more than the element. Also, would i need to tap 2 different open fuses in my fuse box to do this installation? I don't know how many powered open slots I have.
@RVwithTito
@RVwithTito 5 жыл бұрын
No. It's definitly not coming from the seat heaters. Doesn't make noise at all and still keeping our bum warm.

How are these heated pads working now? And what would you think about installing them on the underside of aftermarket seat covers?
@RVwithTito
@RVwithTito 6 жыл бұрын
Still work great, but we're not using them right now since it's summer. I never did the second seat though, just the drivers side. It would work fine under seat covers too. It would certainly be much easier to install. That's for sure.
