Got a 33cc one at the yard sale for $5 and I replaced the gas pump ball and gas line's in 15 years I just keep gas in mine. People say to drain out the gas when in storeg. But the gas gets need to be moist I just switched out the old with new gas. My first one I got new in 2001 still good. Just got a blower for 🆓 I'm glad to see this video. Good 👍 Job

How can you diagnose a piece of equipment, if you tear it apart before you even know what is wrong with it? I'm sorry but the Mechanic and Engineer in me says gather information about what something is NOT doing, or IS doing and it is not supposed to. You say you found a design flaw, yet you don't share your genius with us? Hmm, another. Kid someone bought a Handy Dandy tool belt and turned loose on all the old junk in the garage. You keep on tearing up stuff before you know what's wrong, I'll find out what I can then diagnose it. Here's Your Sign! Oh and by the way you DO NOT NEED TO BEND parts of the carb to remove it. Had you taken the time to look at it, you would have seen that if you take the three torx (Pronounced TORX, not torax) screws out of the handle, the linkage practically falls apart in your hand. AND DON'T Take parts out that don't need to be IE Primer bulb! Oh and by the way you DO NOT NEED TO BEND parts of the carb to remove it. Had you taken the time to look at it, you would have seen that you take the three torx (Pronounced TORX, not torax) screws out the linkage practically falls apart in your hand It's not TOAST! If you knew half of what you should before you make a video of yourself making a fool of yourself, you would know that you can use sandpaper heavy grade first and then lighter and lighter and sand the piston, and cylinder reassemble it and it'll run like a racehorse.

I’ve never claimed to be an expert, read my about me page. Google issues with the chain brake on these models and see what you come up with. Being an engineer as you say you are we would all love to know the solution to this issue (I’m sure you’d be happy to make an informed video with perfect pronunciation of all tools to aid in this). Oh and you had some copy and paste issues with your comment as well… or do engineers repeat the same thing twice like that usually? None that I’ve worked with in my 20 years working in various levels of manufacturing did at least. Thanks for the support!

Had mine for over 25 years. Still working by simply keeping up with reg fluid levels. Maybe I got lucky or your friends dad did not.

Interesting. Yeah I’m not sure. Seeing 2 of them like that is odd. Also I cruised some repair forums after that and it was a known issue. Glad it hasn’t happened to you!

There is some kind of an issue with the chain brake that does not allow it to fully release resulting it it heating up, burning the plastic around the brake and eventually seizing up. I’m not quite sure how it happens but the solution I read online seems to be snipping the spring, or adding shims to it so that it’ll be clear. I’m not willing to make a modification like that due to safety reasons. Thanks for watching.

They are just horrible...lol. Now you can't kill a old Homelite saw. I owned many of the old alloy chassis saws. Absolutely a must buy if you find one cheap, tons of parts as they were favorites of the tree service companies for decades. It's a shame they destroyed the Homelite name with those nightmares. Just like what Husqvarna did to Poulan, because they don't want any more competition against their Husqvarna branded saws, and pro saws.

Without Electrolux buy out and now Husqvarna ownership of Poulan. Poulan would not exist today....
