I did 30% last year and it was awesome but way too expensive. This time im trying 5% and walmart had 1 gallons for 1.98 so I bought 12 of them, and ill just use it a little bit more :)

Good call. I’ve also found if you apply in a hot sunny day the vinegar really dries out and kills the weeds.

Hi, With 30% vinegar: it’ll kill the weed and the grass as well. How can I use that stuff: just want to kill weeds? Tks
@hustlindaddiy51943 жыл бұрын
You are spot on. If you hit the grass with the vinegar it will die as well. One way around it is to cover any grass that is in close proximity to the weeds with a plastic cover or something similar to avoid contact with the spray.
@tranman63973 жыл бұрын
Hi, Thank you for your advice. As you mentioned: I need to cover the grass before spray the vinegar. The thing is: if it’s a small part of the garden ,wii easy to cover the grass. My backyard is a little big and it’s hard to do as your advice. Can you recommend any method? Appreciate that
@hustlindaddiy51943 жыл бұрын
Hmm. What are you trying to spray? Is. A small garden in a big back yard? If so, you just need to cover the surrounding grass that could potentially get some overspray. If you get a good sprayer you should be able to get pretty targeted with it to minimize the amount you get on the surprising grass.

Thanks for posting. How much does the 30% vinegar cost?
@hustlindaddiy51944 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. You can get 1 gallon of the solution off of amazon for about $23.

Very informative, thanks. I however have an overgrown part of my land where weeds are now looking like trees, and one has a very thick stem over 6 inches in diameter, how do I get rid of these, please?

How many gallons of water does your sprayer hold?

Mine is 2 gallons. But you can buy in all sizes. Thanks for watching and commenting!

wait a minute, This is actually a test of 5%/ 20%/ and 15% not 30% - you diluted the 30% by half, thus almost equating it to the second test strength. And having just shopped for a bunch of these ( because I'm in Canada and we cant be trusted with Glyphosate( sp?) - for a gallon, the price is roughly ($Cad) $5, $ 50, $ 80 here this week. Crazy expensive for that strong stuff. I'd be interested to see what the difference in results using the strong to the med and light vinegar alone undiluted. I wonder if its worth it

Please let me know how to dilute my salt so it won't clog my sprayer?
@hustlindaddiy51943 жыл бұрын
I generally only use a little bit of salt. I’ve found if I put warm water into the sprayer it dissolves the salt and keeps it from clogging.

But you didn’t explain why you’re using dish soap and adding salt, because vinegar by itself can kill the weeds! My understanding is it the dish soap gets on the leaves and keeps the vinegar from being washed off if it rain to waters I don’t know if that’s true or not
@hustlindaddiy51943 жыл бұрын
My fault. Yes. The dish soap is supposed to be a surfactant which helps keep the vinegar on the weeds so it does run off. The salt is mainly used to dry out the weeds. As you saw, the vinegar actually works pretty well by itself. Thanks for watching!
@Dankapotamus9183 жыл бұрын
I never use soap. Vinegar is acidic and soap is alkaline. I want my solution to stay acidic.
@pattypierce81892 жыл бұрын
Yes the salt kills weeds and soap helps mixture adhere to leaves.

why not just spay the vinegar on the weed then pour a little bit of salt on it afterwards?

@@hustlindaddiy5194 I'm just saying table salt is cheap, why not. it would save you a step, without having to worry about clogging it up. Another question, how is that bleach sprayer working for you in the long run, I'm torn in buying one. They all complain about the seals breaking after a few uses

Safe for the 30% around dogs?
@hustlindaddiy51943 жыл бұрын
You know I am not sure. We don’t have a dog so cannot really give much insight there. I would think it makes sense to keep them away until it at least dries and has set it to avoid and possible irritation if the dog comes into contact with it. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the fast response… I’ll spray it and then let it dry.

I’ve found if you spray it when it’s really hot outside and give the sun some time to did its work then 1-2 applications kill off the weed. Thanks for watching.

The only one that works is 30% vinegar .
@gabrielsansar61873 жыл бұрын
nope the 5 percent did well.. two 5 percent sprays over days would equate to the best one.. way cheaper

Interesting test, I wonder however, the winner of your test had 2 ingredients added in, as well as the strongest vinegar. A true test would be, to keep everything fair and use the same extra ingredients on all 3 tests. You are comparing 5% - 20% and 30% vinegar which is an acid. Of course 30% acid is going to do more harm then 5%, and then you boost that 30% with a surfactant (soap) and moisture destroyer (SALT) and also, use your big pump sprayer, which puts down way more product under pressure, getting deeper to the soil and covering more foliage. Are we supposed to be surprised when that mixture beats out the other two lesser strength, and poorly applied products? I Had to laugh when you used a ultra fine mister bottle for test one, and just spritzed over the top of the section, then went up to a bit stronger spray bottle for number 2, and flat out got the big boy sprayer out for number 3. My hypothesis is this, Had you done a fair comparison of each vinegar type, using the same mix and spray method, you would have got the exact same results. A concentration of 5% vinegar is more then sufficient killing weeds and grass, at $2.00 a gallon, rather then dishing out $23.00 a gallon on 20% or 30% vinegar. One tip hardly ever shown in any of the video's showing this method of killing weeds is, to be sure your salt is fully dissolved into solution before you use it in your pump sprayer. If the undissolved salt makes it's way up into your feed tube, and into the spray wand, it will clog up solid and you got a real mess on your hands getting it unclogged. ( I learned this the hard way) "Hustlin dad" is 100% right about how well homemade weed and grass killer works, and I guess if you have the money, stronger vinegar is not going to work any less effective for you, so, I am NOT saying he is misleading anyone here about the ability of this 3 ingredient weed killer to work. Mix yourself up some and give it a try, I have been using it for years, and for me, weeds no longer break the bank to control them.
@hustlindaddiy51944 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the detailed comment. By no means a scientific weed killing test and you bring up a number of good points. I think comparing the different vinegar strengths and either using all of the other ingredients of none of them is a good idea. My goal with this video was to show 3 completely different paths, but your point is definitely a valid one. Ha. You may have given me an idea for my next video!

@@hustlindaddiy5194 I would watch another video on a new test. Also a thought to add other troublesome yard and garden plants such as poison ivy or dandelions or crab grass invasive vines and such. I THINK it will kill those as well, but a definitive test would sure go a long way. And you might get more views listing more pesky unwanted visitors to the yard as well. Cheers, and charge on, you are very good at explaining what your doing in simple terms that everyone can understand.
