This is a quick tutorial on how to change the fuel filter on a 2006 Ford Mustang GT.

Thanks man, great video! I completed it in 20 minutes on my 2009 Mustang GT/CS. One thing I would suggest is after you install the new filter and replace the relay and battery cable don't start the engine right away, turn the car on without starting and you will hear the fuel pump prime the fuel line, do this about 5 times before starting, it will reduce the strain on the fuel pump.

I'm so glad I found this video. I have almost 100k miles on my 08 GT and never knew the gas filter & pcv valve needed changing. The car runs great but I'm going to replace them anyway and this video helped a lot. Sounds like an easy task.

Thank you for pointing out where the fuel filter is on the fifth generation mustang. I have been changing fuel filters before they were under the car/truck and have never took out any sensor or removed any terminal from the battery. I have loosened the gas cap to remove pressure.

Thank You for your video. It helped a lot with changing the fuel filter on my 06 convertible V6 mustang. I had a problem with disconnecting the second fuel line between the filter and the engine. Before the third try, I squirted some WD40 at the connection, waited 15 minutes, and the line finally slipped off very easily.

HighCountry Pioneer Sir I just changed mine prior to dyno run , look under driver door ,you can see cover it's a different style than older models you can see the mounting screw ,PS got 650hp to the wheels ,65mm throttle body and 2.4 pulley w/ tune

Richard Thomas Mine is a 13 GT, I followed the fuel lines supply and return all the way, there is no fuel filter under the car but integrated into the fuel tank, the manual says it's a "lifetime" fuel filter and doesn't need to be changed, it looks like on a gt500 there's two maybe not sure. Either way a gt500 is a lovely car to own.

It should be the same from 2005 to 2010. There maybe a few minor differences between base model and GT...

I did my car today, a 2008 V6 Mustang. The procedure was the exact same. I replaced mine with the Motorcraft part, so I didn't have the little covers on the end, but everything else was identical. Thanks for posting this. It made my doing the job a lot easier!

Winston Buzon what was the intial problem did it start leaking or did the check engine light come on n then u scanned it maybe.. My engine light is on and it has been saying my fuel inlet was to lean... So i just wanted to ask u if u thought it would be the fuel filter or would i have to clean off the fuel injectors??? Yes, and that's why I turned the ignition to ACC four to five times to prime it before putting the fuel pump fuse back on

tony free if it's clogged up it definitely will. More gunk in the filter means less fuel through it, means your motor is starving.

Thank you for great video! I have a 2005 V6, second owner, 80k. I assume its the same procedure? Today "Check fuel cap" light came on, but my fuel cap is fine, I am guessing next thing could be the fuel filter needing replacement?

Pixelsurgery With fuel caps, things may seem fine, but surprisingly enough, fumes will leak out of caps that are used or worn. If changing the cap doesn't make the light go away, then fuel filter could be your next step. Be sure to reset your ECU (disconnect Neg battery terminal for 5 minutes and then re-connect) after changing your cap. Start with the easiest way to fix things first. It will save a lot of money :)

Well what do you know, my cap indeed was not screwed properly, corrected it and after few minutes the light went away :) Thank you so much for your reply though, at least now I know how to change fuel filter if ever needing to do so hah. Subscribed to your channel for future wisdom ;)

My 2006 isn't a GT, but sure sits low to the ground. Do you have other videos on 2006 Mustangs. The dealership wants $470 to do system tune up and $100 to update software on computer. Pretty sure I can't do those. What about cabin Hepa filter'
