You need to put score lines on parts you want to stick together, clay doesn’t want to stick to smooth surfaces. It also helps to make a slightly watered down clay mix to fill gaps and basically use as “glue” to join things. It’s quite easy if you know how but brain-meltingly agonising if you don’t. Amazing problem solving tho! And they turned out incredible!!!

Awesome thank you for the tip. I will try to use it when i make a new clay project ♥

I've tried mixing the clay with water to make details stick and it's incredibly difficult if you're working with a fluffy clay such as das. It just sticks together in lumps 😢 working with pottery clay is so much easier.

This works very well with regular clay, but not so much with air dry clay. I think they put paper and plastic in it so it makes it difficult to work with.
@DH-gq7bm

@@MagycArwen I just use PVC glue. I bought some bottles of Aleen's tacky glue, and I apply them to the wet pieces of clay I want to attach then smooth the seams. Seems to work just fine for me. And I use das too, so I understand what you mean

I really like how you showed all the failed attempts instead of editing those parts out and trying to make it look like it turns out perfect at one go. As a crafter I face such issues too and get disheartened at times...but looking at this made me realise it's alright and very normal to face them :) and even to learn from those mistakes! The outcome looks super cute! :)

For the your original plan on making the body of the trinket box, when I took ceramics my ceramics professor said to cut the smaller sides of the rectangle in a 45 degree angle so the sides kinda overlap each other when you bring them together. This way it would attach better. I'm not sure I made any sense. XD

I’ve seen others comment this already, but to get pieces of clay to stick together, it’s easier to score the area you want the piece to go onto (and the piece itself) with something sharp, and then add slip to it. “Slip” is just a mixture of water and used crushed up clay. It acts as glue.

When I saw thumbnail without reading the title I thought you will paint a ready made copper plant tots or something and here I am amazed by your persistence on making clay work! So satisfying and cute! But also I can see myself thinking I know how to get needed consistency of let's say gouache and for some reason I pour too much water and it get so streaky! But sometimes it's just gives work it's uniqueness :) Great job, cute cats❤

Make your own spinning table for a couple dollars. Go to your dollar store & pick up a pack of stove burner covers (they come with 1 smaller & 1 larger) & a bag of marbles. Fill the smaller burner cover with the marbles, set the larger one facing down on top of it. Easy peasy & really inexpensive. More $ left for paints!

These are gorgeous, and you took so much care and effort to decorate and mould them. 😍 I was looking for tips on crafting with air dry clay again after having to focus on school work for a few years- I was definitely not disappointed to find your channel😊

Can mod podge be used as a varnish for the mugs?

I don't think it is food safe. I recommend using real ceramics if you want to create mugs. All of my diy projects with air dry clay are for decoration or storing

Nice and interesting.. It is need to wait until dry before color it or can color it immediately? What type of color can be use? Tq

Thank you! With air dry clay you do need for it to harden before you can paint it. It usually takes around 24 to 48 hours depending on how large your piece is. You can use acrylic paint to paint it if you don't plan to use any varnish or gouache like i do in the video but in that case you do need to varnish it with a special varnish for water based paintd

I took it out when it was half dry. Air dry clay tends to shrink a bit when drying so it's best to take it out before it is fully dry :D
