Thank you!!! I had it almost finished and had to call my brother. . .I didn't have the small ribbon cord back in place properly, and the track pad didn't work. He watched the video, we got on Skype and had it done. My little Dell Mini works great now, and I can't wait to start using it again and not be stopped by a message telling me there's not enough memory. A thousand thanks!!!

Most external HD are a regular HD inside, but you could not use the USB connection, you would have to remove the HD from inside the shell and then it would probably fit.

+kensou20091 I would reseat the memory or put back the old memory and make sure it still boots. It could be defective memory or was just not seated correctly the first time. Let me know what you find out and thank you for watching and commenting:-)

Great tutorial! LOUSY DESIGN. BAD DELL! BAD DELL! You shouldn't have to completely disassemble a computer to replace the memory. That'S CRAZY

Just finished my upgrade. Seemed to go according to plan, your instructions and pointers were great. I replaced the HD with an intel 520 SSD (60 Gb) and the memory with this module (www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX30598). When I powered it up after finishing, the screen stays black up, and it beeps twice, waits a few seconds and beeps twice repeatedly. I'm going to see if I can find any info on the beep code (POST?), and if necessary back out the upgrades to original components and re-check all the cables. If you had any suggestions on what might have went wrong, I'd greatly appreciate it!

First of all thank you watching and commenting. I am sorry you are having issues. I would try swapping the memory back to the original and see if that fixes it. It is rare but could be defective memory. I will do some searching myself and see if I can think of anything else to try.

Berry Meherg Was getting ready to recycle this netbook, when I took it in for a diagnosis at the local computer shop I trust. Ends up I had mis-seated the RAM upgrade... even though I tried to reseat the old and new memory module repeatedly. Good news, didn't fry my netbook; Heads up, investigate seating the memory if you encounter similar problems. Thanks again for the tutorial video.

No. Tried it a few hours ago. Has to do with the 4 GB RAM stick not matching the MHz of the 2 GB RAM my mini came with.
