DIY - Sony Record player Stopped Spinning

I have this same record player. I repositioned the belt, but it still won't turn on its own. The arm will move, so it should be getting power, but idk if anything is broken, or if I'm just pressing the wrong buttons.

It could be the band is strecthed and needs replaced? There is not a lot of tension on it, but you could try that. Also try cleaning the silver metal plate it sits of with rubbing alcohol. Good luck and thanks for watching:-)

My band is around the metal plate. It plays for a short time but then stops. Does it mean that the band is stretched slightly and that's all that's need for it to stop playing? The band did seem strong though.

I would replace the band, it has probably been stretched too much. You could also clean the metal ring with 90% isopropyl alcohol.
