Thank you for your clear and detailed step-by-step video instructions on how to access and upgrade the hard drive on my 12 years old but still very treasured Dell Inspiron 11Z. I was surprised that a novice like me was able to do the upgrade without a hitch. Thank you for your video.

Your instructions were good help when I changed my Inspiron's original hard drive to a new Crucial solid-state drive. Thank you!

My own M101z is dead (dead CPU) so I wanted to take parts out to put in another, more powerful unit, but one of the screws that holds the keyboard won't come off unfortunately. Do you have any idea how I could get that out? Even if the machine is broken, I don't feel like breaking something to get inside and get the HDD out.

Thanks for the nice video. I had done this long ago to replace the HD in her 11z 1121 with an SSD. Recently her 11z 1121 decided it did not want to power up anymore. Not a battery problem or charger, it just will not start...after working swell the day before. So I bought another 11z 1121 with a bad battery/no charger on eBay for $94 and transferred the memory and SSD from her dead one the "new" old one I bought. Sure wish I could figure out what went wrong with the old one, it is in pristine shape...other than being dead. - geo

Sorry, I know your comment's a little old, but they're the same size as a laptop drive. There are only two standardized sizes of modern hard drive - 3.5" which covers laptop and SSD drives and 5.5" which covers traditional desktop drives.

One of the screw is too tight, I can't get it out. Any advice?
@nopcbs29 жыл бұрын
Julien Le Jeune Make sure you are using the correct size Philips screwdriver and apply enough effort. It will come out. Do NOT try using the wrong size screwdriver or you will be "screwed".

so twisting the keyboard cable like that did no harm to it? I sort of cringed when I saw that.

i7 would not be possible. Better upgrade to a laptop.

you keep calling the "Tabs," "clips." Those are "Alignment Tabs," as the correct terminology and name for what you are doing...
