My God man, this effort is unbelievable, and all for a freakin' lizard, lol. Joking aside, this is truly like no other build I have seen. The framing - I wish my house was this good. BTW, if this build was done at my house, the last step would be, "fix the corner where my dog chewed.."

Thank you and I'm lovin the zoopoxy!. I see what you are saying with the waterfall. But I wanted to controll the water and not create different paths for it to flow. But.... now that it's done I see how I could have removed the square look and still made it function how I wanted it to. I’m just sitting here with my jaw hanging at certain parts, like the level of detail with multiple colors for the hard scape. You have a real artistic flair and a level of technical ability that I wish I could emulate. What changes would you make in your approach to something on the scale of, say, a 20 gallon enclosure compared to this?
@bradsbioactivebuilds Жыл бұрын
Thank you! It's definitely been fun so far, I'm hoping to finish editing part 3 by the end of next week. Video coming soon. For a 2o gallon, it's really the same process just on a smaller scale. But I would also consider what I would be housing in the enclosure to make a final decision with it all. 🤘💯🦎🐸🐢🐍🌱
@cyberwraith9999 Жыл бұрын
@@bradsbioactivebuilds I’m like, “Hmm what would make an interesting challenge?” How about a cave gecko? Thinking the hard scape would possibly be similar? Maybe don’t need to worry about heating or light as much as possibly keeping it cool and damp? Btw, I like the stalactites, but they’re formed in nature where water drips from the roof of the cave and slowly build up sediment over time, so wouldn’t it be interesting if they played a part in the water fixture somehow…?
@bradsbioactivebuilds Жыл бұрын
@cyberwraith2k1 cave geckos are cool. O say go for the challange and build something fun for them. I did think about adding a small pump in the water for the stalactites, but for what I'm putting in the enclosure, it would have collected too much bacteria in the hose from him pooping in the water. Maybe in another build I'll try that where the poop won't be an issue in the water. But I'm glad you like them!

Definitely can, I found pvc is lighter, holds humidity better, and no sealer needed to treat the wood for waterproofing. Ply wood would work just fine, just a few different steps. Hope this helps. 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱

@@bradsbioactivebuilds yes it does help I’m seeing plywood for 4x8 sheets for $27 Vs the PVC for $99. But most for the most part the extra steps for plywood may equal out to just using the PVC

@ravenfrancis1714 correct, and pvc won't rott. Honestly if I were to use plywood it would be 5 ply 3/4 inch hard wood. That's just as much as pvc.

Thanx Joseph, I'm glad you find them inspiring! It's hard to say how long it takes, but I cut my 1st peicebif wood on January 13th. Also, setting up camera angles, editing footage, and getting it all "youtube ready" takes some time. But I think if I could do it 8 hours a day 5 days a week it would take about 2 months. Thanx for the question, and sorry for the unknown answer, lol. It is a fun build to do. Thanx for watching! 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱

Amazing build man, I have a 4x2x2 pvc enclosure im looking to make a background for like this. I thought to use silicone 1 to adhere the foam board to the pvc itself but would you recommend the lexel adhesive over that and why if so? Thanks man I appreciate the info
@bradsbioactivebuilds Жыл бұрын
Thanx, much appreciated. I actually used silicone and lexel to attach the xps board because with the panels being so big I wanted to make sure it stuck. I didn't show using lexel because I waited more then 2 weeks before I started adding zoopxy. Giving it more then enough tome for the lexel to cure. But with a 4x2x2 you should be good with just silicone. I did find adding random spots of drylok to the back of the xps board allowed the silicone to have a better bite into the xps. Thanx for watching 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱

This is absolutely incredible! I really appreciate the detailed information for each step you are doing and why you are doing it. I have a couple of questions about the last part of the video, if you don't mind. What kind of paint did you use? Did you have to use a sealant over the paint, or is the paint itself waterproof and durable enough to withstand the moisture and wear without sealant?
@bradsbioactivebuilds Жыл бұрын
Thank you Jennifer, glad you enjoyed part 2 of the series and appreciate the work I put into explaining each step to the best of my ability. I used drylok with quikrete mixed into if for my base coat and majority of the brown dry brush. (Make sure you rinse well if you use quikrete mixed in. It has a light resin that plants don't like). After that, the multiple colors of paint on the plate are regular acrylic paints (matte color) that you would find at hobby lobby. They work great, and no sealer needed once fully dried. I have a friend, Mike (mikes monitors), who use them inside a paludarium for his monitors with no issues. Hope this helps 🤘💯🦎🐍🐢🐸🌱

@@bradsbioactivebuilds oh my gosh - thank you for that info!!! Do you happen to know the brand of acrylic, or is it any acrylic? We don’t have a Hobby Lobby here. We do have a Michael’s. @bradsbioactivebuilds Жыл бұрын
@jenniferrackliff7216 of course, and I'm glad yph find my videos helpful. Try building something small to start to get an idea of how the materials work. @@bradsbioactivebuilds So that folkart acrylic paint is completely animal safe correct? Even if I apply the acrylic paint straight on without sealing it with anything or without mixing in with dry lock, for example? You don’t have to worry about flakes of the paint chipping off overtime in a high humidity environment and scrubbing/cleaning peeling the paint or flaking it at all and the animals ingesting it because Once the acrylic paint dries it hardens to the epoxy and basically never comes off is what you’re saying? Is this acrylic paint also safe enough to use in the inside portion of a water dish that I want to make, or is adding paint to that not a good idea? There’s another brand of paint I was looking at called ecos paint and its supposedly animal safe but you need to buy a quart at a time and it’s pretty expensive and the one that says it’s for higher humidity and Reptile enclosures is not a matte finish. so I was just wondering how the folk art acrylic paint kind of compares to something like that. Folkart brand seems good but i just wanted to ask about the safety of it in your opinion especially when used without being sealed or without being used as a tint for the drylock Also wondering, does the epoxy have a realistic kind of rock like texture to it or does it dry pretty smooth? If I wanted that more gritty texture is that where the drylock comes into play, that’s where you would tint the dry lock with the acrylic paints and do it that way? The original dry is safe for animals as well correct, I’ve heard some people say otherwise but I just wanted to get your opinion on it as well, I mean, you must think so considering you’re using it on your project but just checking
@bradsbioactivebuilds6 ай бұрын
@Snake_Eyes13 great questions. Yes, the folk works great, has not chipped or cone off, and is water will not wash it off after drying. I was just over by my fried Mike's with Mike's Monitors this past weekend, and his 7 year old paludarium (8x4x6 for mertend monitors) still looks amazing both the paint. The other paint you mentioned is good but honestly the regular folk is just as good in my opinion The zoopoxy is a putty so when it goes on it can be smooth. But if you wait a little bit for it to start to heat up you can texture it with a wet natural sea sponge to make it look more rock like. Hope this helps
