The Skil PWRCore 20 brushless impact takes on the Ryobi PBLID02B 4-Mode ONE+ HP 4-Mode Brushless Impact driver head-to-head! Are either of them worthy of your DIY project? Do you need DeWalt, Milwaukee, Makita, Flex, Ridgid or Kobalt instead?

You went to the Ryobi (REE-Obi) plant and got corrected on camera by their PR woman like four times. Ryobi is a Japanese company. In Japanese the y is pronounced ee. The capital city in Japan is Tokyo, pronounced Tok-EE-o, not Tok-I-o.

Great comparison video. My hot take on SKIL is that for the money, they could easily compete with Ryobi if they had the same amount of offerings, and Lowes wasn't hampered by having to feature Craftsman so prominently. Den of Tools recently did a video and spread sheet detailing all the offerings each brand had to offer the DIY Homeowner. And as expected Ryobi pretty much was near the top in all categories except availability. If you didn't account for number of tool offerings, SKIL kept with Ryobi in all criteria except trust, and that's only because they are such a new line.

When they shove so much of it in our faces no one wants it. There was just a tiny endcap for skill 20v and another tiny endcap opposite it for Skil 12v. You could tell they sell fast to.. holes in the shelves

Both of them Ryobi and Skil are DIY and PRO! I'm a Carpenter, Deck Builder, Residential Home Framer and Builder, Electrician and Welder. I use the new Ryobi HP Brushless Hammer Drill PBLHM101B and the new HP Impact Driver PBLID02 in my Jobsite building decks, pergolas and arbor. I own some topnotch or high end DeWalt, Makita, High end Bosch tools and Hitachi. And I also now consider using Ryobi. And I'm abusing mine in the jobsite for 8 months straight now. While my cousin is using the same impact driver from Skil brand. Get this folks they will never be a Pro or a contractor tool because not much professional or trades People want to use Ryobi or Skil in the jobsite. For me there is no such thing as Contractor Grade tools. Tools will always be a tools. Regardless of brands. And I'm not loyal to any Brand. I carry 6 different brand tools in the jobsite and also been using it too at home. Believe it or not I'm also using Hercules brand Harbor Freight Tools too! I have money and I can purchase high end top notch tools. But nowadays I'm opting for a cheaper side. Because at the end my ultimate goal is to make more money but less spending on tools. And the more skilled you are the less tools you need.

I'm a bit surprised that the Skil mostly won this. It seems to do better with heavy loads than the Ryobi, which IMO is more important than light loads that will get done very quickly with either. Chervon really seems to be going after TTI with all their lines, more than they do for SBD, Makita, or anyone else.

I can see Ryobi and Ridgid swapping places in the near future. TTI seems to be pouring all the R&D into Ryobi instead of Ridgid which makes sense since they don't own Ridgid (Emerson Electric does) like they do Ryobi and Milwaukee. That Ridgid lawsuit against Milwaukee is going to come back and bite them. Super exited to see how powerful Ryobi Gen 2 HP tools will be! Also that SKIL is pretty darn good!

I have the lower-tier Kobalt brushless impact driver and I just used it for some automotive stuff, suspension work. It's amazing for how little I paid for it! So no doubt Chervon can make a good mid-level impact, and it wouldn't surprise me if this tool and that one are very similar underneath.

If we're including store specific brands, Chervon also has MasterForce which is the Menards top of the line store brand. (20v not 24v but they do have the "tool communicates with battery" feature in the MasterForce Boost sub-line) Also I feel like in the Skil 20v line you've got the brushed vs brushless. At least it's not like Milwaukee with brushed, brushless, and fuel brushless... Menards also carries the Skil 20v line. I've got the Skil 12v line (drill driver and impact driver) which is all brushless which is nice. I do wish they had more tools, could really go for a fan and a vacuum. Maybe next year, since that Ryobi fan was such a hot item this year...

I've actually been using a 1/2" impact wrench with a milwaukee quick-release attachment for screwdriving for a few months just to keep the tool from collecting dust. I don't really mind either and kind of just relate the use of it to the difference between that little 6" santoku knife you get a a grocery store vs cooking with a cleaver. I grew up using cleavers and don't actually mind the extra weight of an impact wrench xD Honestly we're so far into the post-future of powertools that pretty much anything that's similarly sized have such identical performance that you can pretty much just use whatever color you like

Nice job, short and sweet. I think which one to pick is less about performance on these, and more about which battery platform you want to invest in. I wouldn't hesitate to give the Skil tools to a non-"tool guy", non-DIY type, new homeowner. The reason being, the limited tool options. For anyone else, I would stick to Ryobi due to the many cool tools they offer. With this said, Ryobi seems to be creeping up in price more lately. 😡

My DeWalt 12V drill beat the M12 Fuel hammer drill, and my Skil 12V keeps up with my DeWalt(!). I don't expect the Pwrcore20 to keep up with Milwaukee and DeWalt, but their 12V line is definitely worth reviewing.

Great comparison! I am looking at those two brands. I think for uses the Skil PwrCore 12v would be fine for the average DIYer (and it did get excellent reviews), but I would opt for the PwrCore 20v Heavy Duty Hammer Drill to have the power when I needed it if I went to the Skil brand (Lowes currently has the PwrCore 12 5 tool set, 2 2ah batteries and charger for $99! (Note: is is not the rapid charger or the batteries with the USB ports). BTW: Below Ryobi in the TTI line is Hart sold only at Walmart, which I would say is equivalent to Black and Decker).

If you are going to get 2 voltage ranges, get SKIL 12V and Kobalt 24V. SKIL 20V are in every case just the Kobalt tools in a lower voltage, with fewer options. If you can be completely confident you'll never need anything outside the line and it's meaningfully cheaper to get the SKIL instead, then by all means.

@@orijimi It’s more about the range of tools at at reasonable which is why Ryobi is also a top choice as they also have a huge garden tool line which I think Kobalt doesn’t as much. DeWalt is also high on my list as they are finally upgrading both their 12v and 20v lines and have a dual charger, which Skil does not as of yet. I Love Friendly Feud you 2 guys have, and now I know where and how it all started.! Thank You for making this comparison video 'cause I been looking for videos like it. It's my personal opinion that SKIL is truly at the top of the diy segment. 'RIOBI', not 'REOBI' continues to produce tools that are brushed, and underpowered to complete in the segment, but because of battery-compatibility-thing (which is truly a fantastic idea.!) they're still able to sell trinkets that cost mear pennies to produce and get to market for sale to the masses.😡 Not that 'REOBI', not 'RIOBI' doesn't offer brushless tools that are more powerful than the previous generation, and now are selling them under the ONE+ banner, not to be confused with previous '10yr old', but still available for purchase 'new' in some areas, especially during Christmas and other 'Special-Holiday-Sales'.

As I expected, 'RAOBI' is so concerned about protecting the tools and the batteries, while still in truth likely using slightly inferior in some way or some how, tools that 'yes', can do the job, but if you bring them to the job site, don't make any beer bets you're not ready to pay for...😂😢.

I seriously don't understand the new upper Ryobi stuff. I can't think of any world where I'd suggest a new user a high end ryobi product over a low end milwaukee or Dewalt product.

I've used brushed milwaukee, fuel and atomic and have no plans to jump to a 3rd or 4th platform. Too much to keep up with
