WOW It's finally done I'm literally so excited to have a studio to SEW again!!! This was such a long process, it literally took around 4 months from when we bought the house to demolishing and rebuilding the room, to lots of decorating and diy! Aside from the drywall and floors I did pretty much all of it by myself (plus some help with heavy lifting) and I'm so PROUD!

Congratulations on your new sewing space! Now it officially belongs to a Ghibli movie, Baby Bat included. I was so relieved to see you wearing a proper protective gear after those horror stories in the beginning. Mummified critters are no fun. But now your place is absolutely gorgeous, can't wait for your new sewing videos. And an enthusiastic yes to all your upcoming video ideas!

Stumbled across your channel when looking for inspiration and ideas for upcoming original Fawkes the Phoenix costume dress for my daughter. We're about to do a major reno on our basement room. Funnily enough we have the same horrible ceiling and the paneling. Getting quotes in June and hopefully the work will start in August. I've been sewing in my sunroom for 8 years since my baby was born but I need to get back downstairs to my own space where people cannot intrude!! Looks great. Going to watch your tour video shortly. Great job on your studio!! The light is great!

The second cat is new!! His name is Honey Bee and he's about 4 months old so he's only allowed in the room while I'm filming if someone else is in there watching him until hes a little less kitten stupid 😅 we got him bc Baby Bat seemed lonely but he took more adjustment than the actual move for her haha go figure. I have my sewing set up in our Livingroom of our one-bedroom. The sewing machine is on a red Ikea 6-drawer metal cabinet. The ironing board is on top of my Mum's 'Martha Washington' sewing cabinet. My table is a large illustration board stretched across the arms of my favourite arm chair. Underneath is about a half foot of space to stored sheets for mock-up's. Under the chair goes the box of thread I inherited from the family house. The theory is that everything can swing away. The reality is it's been blocking up the entrance to our balcony vegetable garden. I suspect there comes a time to admit that this is going to be a permanent set-up, so best find ways to maximize it? - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown

That is really stunning work. I vote yes for a tour video. Go for the full Bernadette... Eeee... so looking forward to CoSy and your Strawberry Dress video. It's gonna do great things for your numbers... I grew up in a home with a basement variation on your studio. Only the walls were a grey 'wood' board and the cement floor was finished with grey paint. That sky-blue fireplace was swank, back in the day. They would have been the cool people on the block. The ones who had The Parties. Although it's probably best for all that it's no longer connected,.. - - - _Sewing Update_ My dry spell is ended. I made something that works. A 17th century style tie-on pocket to become... The Ultimate Fishing Pocket. Been fishing a spin rod and reel since I was four (learned & still use Grandpa's gear). I also do fly fishing and don't have a car. So I need something that will get me out into the water and won't look Too weird on the bus and train ride to the shoreline. The standard boy-sport version is a chest pack (that just don't work for chesty me...). Minimum requirements - small easily reachable fishing kit, minimal med kit, thermos of coffee, water bottle, sun block, Granddad's portable tackle box, 'surf sock' shoes for wading in the rivers, tuna fish sandwich, apple, minimal sketching and watercolour kit. And a tether for my wading stick. So I can do the full Group of Seven experience of Bytown. Because I can fish in the shadow of Parliament Hill. And if I'm going to do all that, I can't be tripping over my own gear. And damn it I didn't mostly hit all the checks on the list on the second draft. I've got something that will get me through what's left of the Summer and into the Fall. Yesterday I got caught in the middle of the Rideau in one of those sudden August monsoon thunderstorms. Got me through with flying colours... Have I ever mentioned that I'm looking towards doing a sewing channel of my own someday... I may have just designed my first pattern that's sell-able. Tee. Hee. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown

Thank you! Haha I feel like I would have liked the fireplace more in a different room but I was so set on a cottagecore style studio that it just didn't fit into the space 😅 we did our living room in blue and peach, it would have looked so nice there! haha oh well That's so cool!! haha very nice utilization of something historical to serve your purpose 😊 also that's SO many things to fit in a pocket I'm so impressed!! If you sell patterns for it I'd love to make one, I haate having to drag a purse everywhere. You should totally use it as your first sewing channel video!!

@@moth.faerie {laughing - I start with a fishing & sewing video I may just tick off the vegans of our tribe... ah well, it all comes down to the action shots, I guess} As much as I can stuff into my pocket, you should see what the boys drag out there with them (I'm quite impressed they can still stand up straight under the weight). But yeah, everything is findable with a blind reach. Midstream was a washed-up, bleached out tree. Rested my pole in the hollow (where some weeds & a spider live). Rested me up against the tree. Drank some coffee from my thermos and just hung out. Mama like. Then the pocket got me to the shoreline when the lightening started to fall from the sky along with the torrential downpour. Everything intact and safe. Dry just wasn't an option for anyone... As much as that fireplace would have gone with your living room, it's probably best for all that she's gone on to the great scrapheap in the sky. They were kind of flimsy in the 70's. Not sure if it would be a successful transition to the present day....

@@stevezytveld6585 that sounds so nice! I used to go fishing with my dad but we were always in a boat rather than in the water :) a storm while you're in the water though sounds scary, I'm glad you made it back to shore ok! and thats a good point about the fireplace! I hadn't really intended on using it, but Micah wanted to so now I'm glad we didn't risk the fire hazard 😅

@@moth.faerie I've never actually fished from a boat. Just docks, shoreline and standing in about knee deep water. It looks like fun. I will admit I did have a moment when I looked up and saw the lightning, with the thunder arriving a second later... After that I was just concentrating on my feet and walking staff. I may or may not have been repeating "I am fine. I am fine in this moment. I am fine" to myself for a few feet of the journey. Even then, it was really beautiful. I was in the middle of all this wild power, meanwhile traffic was still going by on the nearby bridge. All this untamed right at the edge of downtown... Moments before the storm I saw a Great Blue Herron come into land. Water was full of ducks and free-loading Canadian Geese (also known as Cobra Chickens). Your fireplace will come. Because they are important.
