Looks really cool! great work! could you please explain why do you need magnets a bit confusing, sorry
@housdrmoon3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your interest. 😀 The magnets were used to rotate both of front and rear wings in opposite direction. That is called ‘magnetic gear’. You can find the mechanism of magnetic gear from other replies and also by googling. :)

It's awesome but how many hours it will rotate?
@housdrmoon3 жыл бұрын
This project started with whether magnetic gear can be applied to kinetic art. The result was that it couldn't. The rotational force could not be maintained for a long time due to the magnetic force. As a result, the running time was less than 2 minutes. The link below is the kinetic art of the same design. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h53QfJ93p9F9bqM The running time is about 30 minutes. Thanks :)

how does the magnetic coupling work (to get the reverse direction of spin)? is there a specific name for that type of coupling?
@housdrmoon4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question. The reverse rotation of the front and rear wings is caused by the force trying to balance the magnetic field between the center plate. The rotational force and number of rotations in the reverse direction depend on the number and strength of the magnets used. In general, this type of gear seems to be called just a magnetic gear. To distinguish it from direct magnetic coupling it is sometimes called a second order magnetic gear or magnetic device. Wikipedia has a paragraph on it in the Magnetic Gear page.
