Very cool! My sister used to do this with regular clay, with multiple leaves over an upside-down tempered-glass bowl (Pyrex), and then fire it in a kiln. I love this idea for fall crafts.

Air dry Clay is amazing! I loved your technique for getting the leaf print. I've never played around with air dry clay, but I actually whipped up my first batch of homemade air dry clay a few days ago. It was so much fun, I even made a video. Thank you! Hope you have fun with them ... I surely did. But be aware that if you use air-drying clay you may use them as decorative bowls for jewels for example...but maybe not for ashtrays as you'll have to wash them... and I don't know if that will work. Depends on the varnish maybe?🤔.... well... let me know how it goes. 🤗❤❤😘😘

Thank you so much! 💕💕💕 I think that the best way is to let it dry by itself. You could use a heat gun to make it dry faster but I think that would also make it crack at some areas. I leave it to dry for as long as it takes and go check on it from time to time, and if I find any cracks I smooth them out with my finger and a little bit of water. 😉

Love that holo effect and the red-brown. I'm into polymer clay, but was just wondering about regular air dry clay. Does it come in different colors or just terracotta?

Thank you so much! For the green leaf I use a combination of colors (white, yellow, blue, green) just like you see me do with the red one in the video. I can’t exactly remember witch ones after this time… but I’m sure I must have used some teal color as well to give it that look. Hope this helps! xoxo 💕💕💕

Well...I have only used them for decorative purposes... so I don't know if the varnish is waterproof enough to put wet soap on it. You have to search for special varnish or other medium that makes air-drying clay waterproof. And please let me know what you find. 🤔🤗😘

No, the wax paste didn t make the varnish resist ...I only used a small amount of wax paste. (On the one I painted with inka gold I used the same brand varnish though "Viva Decor Inka-Lack". 🤗😘😘

I believe Air dry clay is strong enough for making mugs. You just need to alow it time to dry completely. And seal it before use

My clay is still bendy. Not fully hard/stiff. And its been 1 week since i made the leaf

Well, maybe it is the brand. My clay (DAS) dries in about 4-5 days, depending on the size. These were my first and only leaves, so I don’t have much experience with this project, but all I can think of is that maybe yours need more time to dry or maybe you worked in more water in it. Be patient and let me know how it goes. 💕💕💕

The shimmery effect...is it from using a mica powder? I saw you mentioned wax paste but not sure what tht is...do you think a mica powder would work, then protected with a coat of varnish? Beautiful work by the way 💖

Thank you so much!🙏🏻❤... the shimmery effect you can get by using glossy varnish... also on the most shimmery leaf I used inka- gold that is a waxpaste very shimmery. You paint with it and then you rub it with a piece of cloth and it gets that shine. But I also think that mica powder would work perfectly ... You can even mix it with the varnish.😉

If you go over it with warnish you can use a damp cloth to keep it clean but I don't think it is suitable to use a bigger amount of water because it can reactivate with the clay. You have to check with your brand of clay and warnish for more information. I only use clay for decoration projects. 😉🤗😘
