DIY Leather Water Bottle

I made a few of these a few weeks ago, and I want to point a few things: use a tube or any cylindrical shape object on the neck of the bottle when it's getting dry, so the mouth of the bottle is a perfect circle so it won't leak. Use any old tea pot to melt wax in it, so it's much easier to handle when pouring it inside the bottle. And you really nailed it, great job!

everytime i try, i get a layer of wax inside that cracks and crumbles. When i eventually get most of it out (which is difficult), im left with lumps all over the place where there's still large amounts of wax left. any tips?

@@member529 preheat the leather before pouring the wax in so it won't instantly freeze, pour a decent amount of hot melted wax inside and quickly roll it around and pour it out while It's still hot let it cool for few seconds, then do it again 3 or 4 times, this way you'll be able to do multiple thin layers easily.

6:07 excellent craftsmanship. I'm making leather wine glass covers 6x6in squares. Should I do this same process and coat both sides of leather pieces with beeswax?

First of all … it’s filled with beeswax inside and the stitch are also treated with it. So it’s completely waterproof 😁👍🏻🏕🔥🌲Tom

If it’s 100 % beeswax it’s ok to use 👌🏻 and you have to use a lot of it My guess is about 250 grams It’s better to use more than less so you can be sure it’s filling all the gabs in the leather and making it waterproof 😁 Hope this helps my friend 🏕🔥🌲🐕 Tom
