DIY LED reef lights

DIY LED reef lights (TC420 controller, MeanWell LDD-H current drivers, CREE/SemiLeds high power LED from led bloke)
Testing the leds after attaching them to the heat sink with AG Extreme thermal grease and AG TermoGlue from TermoPasty.
The current driver used is MeanWell LDD-700H, delivering a constant 700mA current.
The controller is TC420 with the channel output at 100% (supports DC12-24V input, with 12-24V output, max 4A per channel, 20A total output on five channels). To support dimming with MeanWell LDD-H, a modification with additional soldering before the MOSFET on each channel is required.
Power supply: 12V ~12.5A (150W), passive cooling.
Leds:
- 6x CREE XT-E Cool White 7000k
- 4x CREE XP-L Cool White 7000k
- 6× CREE XP-E2 Blue 460nm
- 6x CREE XT-E Royal Blue 420nm
- 4x Semileds 410nm
- 2x Semileds 395nm
- 2x Semileds 385nm
- 5x CREE XP-E Photo Red 660nm

Have you tried these on a coral tank? did the corals grow?

Isn't the red forward voltage 2.1v (max 2.6v) and the blue 3.1v? If your pushing it at 3v how does/did this affect the longevity of the red leds?

The Vf is different for different LEDs and even for different bins of the same led type. Also, Vf varies with temperature. Please check manufacturer's graphs for the exact bin of an led for an accurate answer. As for the video, I was applying a constant 500mA current via a LDD-500H, therefore different Vf on different leds. Leds are not like the light bulbs, they behave like diodes. Therefore, you don't apply voltage, but rather amperage.

ss ss Hi, there is no schematic at this point, just a bunch of LEDs attached with thermal paste to a heatsink. If you'll watch my other videos, you'll see the light at different stages of the build, including one once finished and another on a RSM130. The test rig in this videos is: 12V power supply -> MeanWell LDD-350HW -> LED (respecting + / - polarity).

Hey thanks for the reply. This comment was meant for another video where they were dimming the leds with a controller. Have you got an update to how these lights performed anyway?
