I have been mostly building packs using DIY kits that include metal enclosures. However I have some more cells that I am planning on building boxes for and started getting some basic wood working gear ( I was quite good at woodwork in highschool ) to build some custom boxes. While your particular dimensions don't work for me, the visual layout is GOLD. Your boxes look sexy!!! Nice. Unfortunately I'm only 7 minutes into the video and can't watch the rest right now. However I saved the link to watch it later. Your build will be my "template" for my own version! So thank you! I watched your saftey video as well, the gasless crimp where it looked like solid copper, OH MY, I need to re-do my crimps! You have me worried. They are 16S LFP 48V systems. Now granted I pull almost no amps my load is small but still, like you said this is a build for decades, so time to go back and re-do all my crimps. I kept reading various reviews on hydraulic crimpers on Amazon and pretty much all of them had bad complaints so I was conflicted, if you don't mind telling me the exact ones you own and use I'll scoop em up. I was thinking of buying one that had good reviews outside of amazon, its an American made name I forget. Anyways...Again, NICE BOXES. I know mine wont be as beautiful as yours but I will aspire to eventually get a build very close to yours! Ugh I can't stop thinking about my crimps. I know they weren't perfect...I did heat shrink them with quality shrink that has good adhesive but that arcing you speak of scares me. Cheers mate! I would love more follow up videos on box making!!! Pretty please? Best wishes from Florida.

The crimpers I used are made in China, of course and they won’t last forever, but they should get you through the job that you’re doing. Try looking up YQK 300

Ray, I think you would be happy with L shaped plastic Standoffs with Mounting Hardware for Motherboard and PCBs instead of screwing BMS to dowels. You can attach the board first then attach standoff foot with a screw that is (or can be) offset, giving you great screwdriver clearance. Another excellent video! Thanks so much for making this, and sharing your knowledge.

I love your boxes! I've decided that if I go with wood, I'm gonna copy yours! The only change I'm making will be stand-offs for the BMS instead of the dowels. I'm concerned about the dowels splitting later as the wood dries out. I'll mount the stand-offs in the wood with 8-32 inserts and bolts! Boxes are beautiful!

I promise the dowels won’t split. 😂

With this info I can go to C&C wood working and get a few of these boxes made up. I may not have some of the power equipment, but a friend has a whole wood shop.

A good solution rather than spending the money to get the right tools for the job. You can even give them links to his videos, I think I remember that he also did a cut layout to maximize the plywood usage.

@@john_in_phoenix This would still require tools I do not have on hand. The table saw I have needs a motor and a blade, the hole saws that I had were stolen. No it will be easier to go to a shop that has all the equipment right on hand and can get everything cut out in about 20 minutes.

You could probably fix this BMS with a soldering iron, if you still have the temperature sensor...and if not, you might be able to disable it in software.

Curious question on your BMS, why are you not using 3/4 to 1" brass stand off for it, would decrease the issues with things being damaged. Where are you buying that BMS? Great video and I pray for a great recovery.

I had the 1 inch dowel and it’s super easy to use. I’m buying the BMS direct from Seplos, but I think in the future I’ll just get the Apex, which is the same thing, from Jenny Wu.

Hi Ray. This message has nothing to do with your video. Ive been trying to talk with jennywu thru email but im email illiterate. Yeah I know that sounds crazy but ive made it thru life without using them. My ex set me up with a couple emails a few years back. It seems that when i go to reply to wendywu’s questions i get notified that theyre not getting sent. Idk but its driving me up a wall and i dont know any other way to reach her for batteries. Is there a direct number i can reach her? Again i apologize for this being unrelated to the video

Update: got in touch with Jenny wu through other means and put an order in. If it all works out as everyone claims then that will be a ton of bricks off my shoulder. Last company I dealt with was renogy and I over paid for several lifepo4 that just aren't worth the money and one of them stopped working ( one cell dropped well below minimum cell voltage and couldn't recover) causing problems in other batteries. Anyways Jenny Wu seems like a very polite lady and glad she tolerated me. Again I apologize for the message not concerning your video. I do watch your vids and you don't don't stop ceasing to amaze people. Keep up the awesome work
