Try using your disk sander to grind your bevels it will do a much better job. Nice little easy to watch videos keep it up. - nyatiblades.

What brand and type of cutoff disc did you use to cut the knife out of the blade? I usually have to spray the blade constantly to keep from overheating.. Thanks

how long did it take to heat treat it with the torch?

That's not really heat treating, that's hardening... It takes about 3 min to get that amount of steel to the color that you want to dump it in oil... After that you heat treat it in an oven depending on the steel you do that several times with different duration and temperature...

Really cool blade! I have wanted to try my hand at making a blade or two or twenty haha. I like the way you use a saw blade. Is the blade you used much thicker than a standard table saw blade? I have plenty of those I can use, but am curious if they are thick enough.

What temperature did you temper at and how long? I have 2 knives made from used diamond blades. That need hardening and tempering.

First of all, thank you! I've used 80 and 160 grid. For the handle I used epoxy glue. Have fun with your project!

Cool knife. I'm learning he to make my own now. You do great work. I get not talking because cancer took that ability from me. However if your doing a silent video it would be nice not to hear the loud tools. Not trying to be a butt head . but to watch a 15- 20 min video with that noise is hard. I've always been curious when watching videos where people make knives from various other objects but is there a specific reason (or any reason) for the tang of the knife to be visible between the stock material of the handle? As in rather than chiseling out a slot to fit the tang into and then hammering in the pins/bolts

I have a few old Stihl asphalt cutting blades and was thinking it'd make a good knife but I was reading on a few threads that this was not the case. Did you make this just for shits & giggles or is the steel worth the time?

+Marcus Aurelius I would say it's definitely worth the time. Ok you have to sharpen the knife a little bit more often then if you had a high qual steel knife, but for me that's absolutely no problem...
