Wow. Beautiful project and terrific video! Congrats on the move. I love mixing metal and wood projects and am always looking for an excuse to add metal elements or accents to a woodworking project, or vice versa. (Very minor nitpick - I think the scrap boards you make your planer sled with @3:45 are particle board rather than MDF, that is, low-density IKEA fiberboard rather than medium density.)

@strykervalkyrion4 жыл бұрын
You should really make a table saw jointer sled, use a router table for it if you have one, or use the electric handheld one with the boards clamped in your bench vise. There's at least 2 ways for the table saw jointer method. Off the top of my head, one using toggle clamps that rides the miter slot and another where you make a halfway stop cut on a straight piece of wood that's the width of the blade deep and then flip the wood around clamping it to your fence and pushing the fence with the wood right up to the blade so that the blade is in the slot previously cut
@diyhuntress4 жыл бұрын
Using the handheld one with the vise is GENIUS. No router table... no room... there are a few sleds I want to make for my table saw when I have more time this summer! There are lots of great plans for them floating around.
@strykervalkyrion4 жыл бұрын
@@diyhuntress Just a warning that the electric plane won't be able to flatten long boards with slight discrepancies too well without building a jointing jig since it's really small and will just ride the curves that are spread out larger than it's shoe

I had to Google the term "Domino joint" and I was disappointed to learn that it doesn't use actual dominoes. If you ever build a gaming table, real-domino joinery would put it over the top. So much of woodworking, or any project build, is creative problem solving along the way.
