NICE work Kelly. Disposable vinyl gloves are great for paint/spray paint, and smoothing caulk - I use a wet rag to smooth caulk w gloves.

So hard to find old models of mobile home faucets and shower heads ect.. when we bought our single wide its a 1983 model and had same gunk in tub I tried all cleaning supplies but finally tried CLR removel lime scale an rust finally got it to fade! beautiful job gf

It turned out great! BTW, it's super easy to change out the shower head. I found mine on Amazon warehouse and it made a huge difference. I'm redoing an older mobile home as well. Thanks for sharing your shower/tub makeover, it showed me that it can be done successfully! I'll have to check back and see if yours is holding up strong. Thanks again!

When painting the tube you should allow two or three days for the paint to cure before using the tub this will allow the paint to set

I know what I will be doing when it gets cool enough to open my windows! I have a garden tub that I don't use but would like for it to not be that awful yellow they turn after so many years. It will have plenty of time to cure as I said I don't use the tub. I'd rather spend a little to refresh it than a lot to remodel. Thanks for the idea and information. I've heard of these kits, but had no idea it could possibly look that fantastic!!!....my concern is how long will it last with weekly cleanings and all???....the thing that "ticks me off the most" is being able to change out the the bath tub faucet....the manufacturer's of these homes make it impossible to change them out unless you go behind the wall and take it out that way....looks brand new and sooo beautiful!!!....great job....very inspirational and motivating!!!....

I used marine boat paint to paint the tiles around my tub/ shower (not the bathtub itself) and right after painting it looked amazing. It was high gloss shiny white. After about a year it still looked good. By the second year it started to show signs of wear- I could see small scuffs and scratches in the paint. Some minor peeling mainly where the bar of soap kept touching the wall. It is now three years and the paint has yellowed. It still looks "white". If it was left on it's own it would not be noticeable. However because it is directly beside the high gloss toilet and tub the difference between the high gloss toilet and tub vs the tiles is very noticeable. You can really see the "yellowing" vs the high gloss white. A day or two (or even up to a year) after painting there is no noticeable difference. The paint will be high gloss white matching the tub, toilet, sinks etc. However after a few years it will fade and become noticeably different. If you use paint just expect to repaint after a few years. Overall would I recommend- Depends on where you are using it. If you have a bathroom that has old or odd colour tiles (like pink, greens etc you saw in the 1970s) then I would recommend. Just be prepared to potentially repaint ever few years. If you are on a budget and don't care how your bathroom looks as long as it looks "newer" then what you have then I would recommend or if this is a secondary bathroom (like in a basement etc) I would recommend If this is a main bathroom with expensive fixtures, tiles etc (i.e. very "professional" looking) then I would not recommend. If you have an expensive bathroom then I would recommend spending some extra money and replace all the tiles by a professional.

@@kirbzmom I would be interested in seeing how that turns out. From what I understand professional tile reglazers use an oil based paint similar to marine boat paint or tile refinishing paint kits. They more or less do what she is doing in this video they are just "professionals" because they do what some people are not able to do. If it is any type of oil based paint then all research I have done shows that some type of oxidization takes place causing it to "yellow" over time. I am not the "professional" so they may use some type of clear coat at the end but from what I can tell is 1- the paint itself is supposed to contain chemicals to act like a clear coat so an extra clear coat isn't really needed. and 2- clear coats are oil based that contain similar chemicals to the paint they are just clear so it will also over time oxidize and start to "yellow" Also all reviews I have read about professional glazers seem to have the same results. They all look great directly after painting and up to a year later but after about three years it fades and needs to be reglazed again. It seems like it is the same result whether a professional does it or someone does it themselves. I am not saying don't do it. And I am open to more feedback but from all the research and reading I have done it seems like a professional is using the same materials as a DIYer with similar results. Whether you do it yourself or have a professional doesn't seem to matter. It seems like it is the paint not the person applying it so it seems like every three to five years you have to expect to paint it all again. But like I say I am open to hearing other people's results and if they have any recommended pros in the area.
