Next time go to your local paint shop and give them your Paint code and ask them to mix it up in a few spray cans, and buy a nice clear like Spraymax 2k or Upol Clear #1. Make sure you spray a wet layer of clear for the last coat and you should get a really good finish.

@@aybrant Spraymax 2k and Upol Clear #1 are box gloss clear coats, local paint shop should have both. They can also point you in the direction of a good primer to use!

I did my grill and used the laquer clear. By dupli color. It’s in a white can But that will give you that wet look

Did this on my 07 Sierra classic and it was that easy, but the only thing is to NOT LOSE any screws, clips, bolts, or anything else that you need to put it back together

I would have just scuffed them with a red scotchbright pad before painting them. 320 was a little much. Other than that they look great on the truck and looking forward to more content.

I used cheaper chrome handles on my 14 and the salt in the winter ate the chrome so I hope yours are a better brand

Those look fantastic. It's a good thing the truck was black, you barely had to even color match the back pieces. My red 2006 Silverado had to get them paint matched.

You should've gotten some primer just to fill in/soak in to the plastic and then spray the black, I'd def do about the same coats as you did, wait to dry, wetsands, wipe with some alchohol and see how it looks, if it's good then clear or spray more black, wetsand, clear. They look solid though just need to be more smooth / glossy.

Scuff with 400 grit wet/dry style sandpaer , .. If you want the gloss to match the body paint , you need to spray clear coat 10 minutes after the color coat without sanding as it bonds to the color coat ,

excellent videos! you hit up any local "pick an pull" places? i was super lucky and a color matching tahoe showed up! getting that lock pin out is scary! i've been a fan of automotivetouchup for color match paint. end of the day, it is hard to not be perfect, totally get it! your passion really comes thru. Funny, chrome delete where there is stock chrome and chrome add where there wasn't. part way thru the video, did you add a chrome tailgate handle? (doing the same stuff with my 99 silverado)

1. Don't do anything else to the handles. They are halfway between the flares and painted. 2. Chrome mirror caps.

If you are going spray out of a can I recommend to use one of this 2 clears they give you factory finish results. Spray Max 2K High Gloss Finish Clear Coat Spray Paint or Eastwood 2k Aerosol Spray | Clear Coat Automotive. The clear that you used will not give you the best gloss.

Love this truck. I think the door handles are perfect and they kind of go with and compliment the fender flares which have a matte look themselves. I love the setup of the whole truck it’s perfect in my opinion. I have a white 05 exactly like this truck but with a 6in lift and I have the same cam on the way for it. I’d like to know the suspension set up you have because I plan to do away with the 6in lift it’s just a little over kill and doesn’t ride the greatest and this is the look I’m going for honestly.

I'm not an expert by any means, but when i painted my rear bumper and bumper plastic I used a filler primer and it took care of a lot of the deep scratches and you can't see where it was textured.

I had a 03 cateye and had all chrome on it and I didn’t like it… one of them being door handles… I bought a set (2, extended cab) and they where 15$. They where from Amazon and came gloss black like your truck. If you wanted to look!

By "color matching" you mean "color matching as long as it's black". Obviously you can't just throw those handles onto any color truck without paint. Also, any color other than black or white are going to be tougher to get just right. Also, less of the handles are black now than when you started. 😄
