I've made these same birdbaths. The water will seep into the grout and after time the stones will fall off. I found if I resin the inside after grouting it will last forever.

Lovely & inspirational, it's very beautiful, I think the black was a nice choice for the grout. I like that you used paper pulp with the portland cement / sand mix. I would probably use a thicker layer of portland & sand mix in the bowl to embed the glass jewels & lots of small pebbles to for less or avoid the grout and omit or use smallish pebbles on the edge for a more grippy surface for the Birds to stand on. The stand is very nice as well, but that would not work for us we have lots of wild ones [which we love]come for a drink, Fox, Black Bears, & the very clever Raccoons who would likely knock it over. I think it would also make a lovely bird feeding plate, but the Bears would run off with it as they have with other bird & Squirrel feeders, I can see them now running off with it, what a sight they are. It’s beautiful! Plus with the wire or metal base, it’s going to be lighter, making it easier to clean. I just wonder where you can get that metal base. I haven’t been out and about shopping in a while.

That was a very interesting video. I have been planning to make another birdbath, so your video is spot on. I made my last one out of regular cement and it is very heavy, I am going to use your papercrete method this time. I like the way you used thinset and grout on the bottom. I do a lot of tile projects but I never thought of that. By the way, I subscribed to your channel.
