Clever idea and quite affordable to accomplish. Thanks for getting straight to the build and demo.

I have a similar system… black painted coffee cans and mosquito bits (granular version of mosquito dunks). Mosquitoes like dark colors which is why I painted them black. I have also heard they are attracted to red so I have some red tape near the top of the can. Adding dirt and grass worked in my cans to give it a rank smell. Key also is to have multiple stations, I have 4 around the property but away from the people areas.

I’ve recently tried the vanilla extract mosquito spray solution. Works well in my Area, Which is coastal Central Florida

Thanks for the tip! I’ve seen that but didn’t know if it would work. 😁

If you add some dish soap to the water it reduces the surface tension and the mosquitoe laying the eggs will drown. About a teaspoon per gallon.

@@SimonSaysDIY I dont doubt that, I just expected a little more diy I guess. Mosq.dunks are not available in the majority of the world.

Why hang it on a tree? Why not just set the bucket on the ground?

I did that to keep it out of the way when I mow and trim around the trees. But this can definitely just be placed on the ground. ☺️
