okay...that was amazing! so so simple. I have viewed several of how to make roman shades and this is by far the best one! your camera angle was perfect and your voice instruction was clear and to the point. I purchased all my materials and now I'm ready....set...go!

michelle rice I need a tutorial on how to make/sew a LONDON SHADE. All I ever see are instructions for Roman shades. Can ANYONE show me how to make a LONDON shade?
@sarahmunromaddonna62642 жыл бұрын
I had started making some awhile back and set them aside for a few months... I have spent several hours trying to get reorganized with the mechanics of what I could remember from the tutorial I first used. I've been so dang frustrated. I finally started looking for a new one to simplify what is an already simple process my brain wouldn't grasp and I am so grateful to have found this tutorial. All the steps were shown on the video, it was simple and the steps clear. ❤️👏👏👏

Okay this I can do. I wanted Roman shades in our game room but had not one clue as to how I was going to begin. Thanks a bunch.

this is probably the best tutorial i've seen, and these work better than regular cheap blinds... and still doing this is cheaper than real roman shades bought from the store... i think i'll try this one with a good quality fabric
@janisvazquez303610 жыл бұрын
I'm definitely gonna try this myself. 3 day blinds was charging me a whopping $1400 for just two windows in the kitchen. I was like "get out of here". Can't wait to do them but I wonder how many I'll go through to get the hang of it. Thank you!

I’m buying a house with older mid century windows that aren’t solid glass panes but have a middle section and open outward, so blinds wouldn’t lay nicely over the window. I believe that Roman shades would look better but to buy them is way too expensive. I think I can definitely do this. Thanks for this video.

how did you put the pull up cord through the slats?? missing that part in the video
@ashmoise31754 ай бұрын
Yours was the best one!

This was a great tutorial with a few minor steps missing. I like the use of the "wooden" blinds. Everyone is thinking you used wood, but those are plastic wood look blinds. I use to have them. I like this idea better than using the mini blinds. Seems sturdier. Would've liked for you to add in your tutorial how you raise them up and down as I don't see the pull cord in your finished product. I know installation is the same as if you are installing the blinds. Also missing is how you decided how many slats to leave behind. Otherwise great tutorial and am thinking of doing this myself!
@angv29972 жыл бұрын
For those of us who don't know what is a latter cord or which one is the latter cord we probably will cut the wrong one as it wasn't zoomed in and couldn't distinguish what was being cut.
@1105pitbull8 жыл бұрын
I don't see how the shade is pulled up. Where is the part that you grab to bring the shade up? I see it running through the slats and ending at the bottom but what does the other end do?

@sammiedav10537 жыл бұрын
looks great ... one suggestion; if you add lining to the back, you can have better light coverage, also you can see the fabric better when it is pulled down, if you are on the other side everything would look cleaner and not show all the cords and blind pieces.

For a true beginner like myself, it would be helpful to have a few more details...what type of blind you bought, a starting summary of the project, a demo of how they work when you are complete, etc...any commentary that helps me to avoid mistakes. Especially when I would have to go out and purchase a blind to cut up... Thanks!
@sarahmunromaddonna62642 жыл бұрын
Hey Jennifer! In your opinion, would these work as well if you used a second piece of fabric on the other side of the slats? Maybe ironing fusing tape between front and back materials? If so, do you think gluing the second piece to the slats would be good to do also, or no? Thanks for the input! And the video. It's perfectly short and sweet! ❤️

I need to add blackout fab attached for my RV. I am getting rid of the wood blind in there so maybe I’ll play with it……This video is 9 years old and don’t k ow if they’ll be any responses from the owner.

wow, what a neat idea. question: I have a 72" wide, 13" deep window. how many slats should I reattach? my blinds have 7 ladder cords. can I still do this project with a blind that size?
@margobergene4638 жыл бұрын
I have used the old vanes from blinds to make drawer interlocking drawer dividers. I thought it would be a good use for the pieces you don't need for this project. Just measure your space, then cut about half way through each piece and it will stand on its own. If you want pictures let me know.

OMG this is awesome! My husband and i just purchased a house and i have too many windows to work with, and i really want to use roman shades at least for the main windows, like bedrooms, living room and dinning room. (pretty much everywhere except the hallways, bathrooms and kitchen lol)... But i have no blinds tho, i don't know if i should buy some cheap ones to do the roman shades or what. It's gonna cost be more to buy the blinds and also the fabric etc.. Any suggestions? Pls advidse! :(

Hello. Thanks for the video. Are these functional? Where does the pull cord go to raise and lower the shades?
@JenniferWest10 жыл бұрын
Hello! yes, these are still functional to raise and lower. That is why you don't cut the main cord and you still have the slats. The main cord that raises and lowers the blind is now behind the fabric, so you do have to reach behind the fabric now because it is hidden, but then you can raise and lower the shade just like you would your blinds. Hope that helps!

There are definitely a number of particulars like that to take into consideration. That may be a great level to carry up. I provide the ideas above as general inspiration however clearly there are questions just like the one you bring up where the most important factor will probably be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged round issues like that, but Im sure that your job is clearly recognized as a fair game. Each girls and boys feel the affect of only a second’s pleasure, for the remainder of their lives.

and how do you wash them after
@ChrischoBoardgaming7 жыл бұрын
Diane Taylor Good question, you probably don't. If those slats weren't glued on, but instead sewn into tightly fitting "slat pockets", one might be able to pull the slats out before stuffing the rest into the washing machine. Oh, but then there's that pulley and whathaveyou attached...
@ChrischoBoardgaming7 жыл бұрын
I haven't watched the whole video, only the start and the end to see if this video, like maaany others, also doesn't show the shades "in action", i. e. being operated. I can only assume that those are tricky to use. Thanks for the rest, though.

I just finish to make one ,, but didn't have wood , I use mini blind ,,, its work !!! but the only think is some glue show on the right side , probably use a lighter type of tissue, to fix it I will add deco lace. As for time by the time I cut length and width of the tissue it took me 5 hours to make one .. but I'm sure the next one will take less time :)
