Slowly but surely working our way through my parent’s house wherever they allow. This one was so much fun because it was my room in high school that I always wanted to decorate but never really could. As I always say, makeovers don’t need to be insanely drastic - work with and where you can but you don’t need to overhaul the space every single time. I think a lot of people are sticking to the regular content flow of their channel and are not interjecting personal views on current events because the channel isn't based on that. People don't watch a cooking channel to hear political views or a DIY channel to hear cultural commentary. They just want the regular content. I think for many people it's sort of a anchor to sanity. The one thing that doesn't change and, for a few minutes, they can escape what is going on in the world.

KD Washington, I 100% agree with you. I too have been very hurt and disappointed at some of my favs for just throwing the topic aside and acting like nothing is going on. While I DO NOT need an entire video dedicated to it, I am sure just a few words of support and encouragement would not hurt the dynamic of their channel. Fabulous as always! I am working on downsizing 56 years of stuff, while I can't have large power tools in my building, I do get Home Depot to do cuts for me and I also Hack whatever shelving I have into something that will work in my space. I watch your channel because you inspire me to 'get on with it' and when I have watched your room transformations, they inspire me to keep on going, because if I let myself get distracted, nothing will get finished and the mountain gets bigger and bigger. Only thing I would change are the screws of the hanging shelfs...since the rest has some gold accents, I think I would get some golden ones or paint them :P but hey thats such a minor thing...I just think it blends super well together. My living room including ceiling took 3 full day's like until midnight kind of day's but I did do all the windows and cills as well. 3 coats of Behr Prime and Paint Flat White from Sea Foam Green, it's way better white, so bright and clean and spacious. I am in Seattle so we have many dark dreary day's here and that sea foam was getting to me.

I hope this is an appropriate sentiment, but I am so glad that you are continuing to post. Yes, we cannot take our feet off of the gas to end systemic racism and police brutality, but it isn’t sustainable or helpful to stop life. You are using your platform for good, in multiple ways. Living to DIY with Rachel Metz I don’t know if you’ll see this but I had to laugh at the black heart. My husband is from Thailand and telling someone they have a black heart is apparently quite the insult. I learned this from a young nurse who told me she’d done her mission work (Mormon?) in Thailand. She was taking me back in to have a colonoscopy and I’d started crying. When she found out we’d had an argument that morning (he started to get on the freeway instead of taking side streets to the hospital) and told me I was being controlling when I asked him where the hell he was going. This is the same man who had a caravan follow him into downtown Portland Oregon to pick up the mail one last time 🤦🏼‍♀️instead of just heading for the airport so I really wasn’t out of line asking where we were going. I’m tempted to make a giant black heart and hang it off our deck to support BLM while also knowing it may bother him a little bit. We’ve been married forty years, rarely argue and usually it’s about something dumb. I love how much you appreciate your parents.
