If you know me or my channel you'd know I love decorating my home and I LOVE finding ways to make beautiful things! The best part is when it's budget-friendly! Budget-Friendly Home Decor is the best of both worlds!
I started with an inexpensive basic outdoor rug from Home Depot and using outdoor exterior paint and my favorite "go-to" Frogtape. I was able to transform this simple Patio Rug into a new designer looking outdoor rug!
This whole project was done under $40 and is an easy way to transform your patio into a welcoming space!

Hi Marion It's ACE Exterior Paint (White in Satin Sheen). Still doing great on our patio, it's nice to be able to hose it off with the jet nozzle and it takes the dirt off wonderfully. Perfect outdoor rug for our family!

@@ValerieAguiar thanks Valerie, I want to paint my indoor carpet😀 I’m going to do a test spot. Nothing to lose as the carpet is horrid. I live in New Zealand but I’m sure I will find a similar paint here. I was wondering if I should use indoor enamel but I don’t think it will matter much. 👍🏼😁

I wonder if it’s best to use fabric paint so that it dries with a soft finish. I know using exterior paint will leave a rough texture when dried.

You can definitely try that and see what feels best! It left a little bit of a rough texture, but nothing too abrasive.

Was the point of painting just for design? Are the painted parts water resistant?

It's not bad. The rug has a little texture with the paint but nothing uncomfortable on your feet (in my opinion) :)
