Thanks Angela, I will try this, but right now I am making a Bow tie quilt for a friend! I am trying 95 x 108, but I think with the bone spurs in my shoulders and right thumb, it will be 80 x 80, and I am going to quilt. Great tutorials, you are the Best!

This is very neat , I like the no show stitching lines ! Love that doggy fabric 💕💕 Check ! It’s on my list of 2022 projects . When my daughter buys her kitchen table, I will make set of 4 placemats for her. I have to keep an eye out for a doggy fabric . You make things so simple for us to follow. Another excellent tutorial 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 .

Thank you for such clear teaching ! But may I know how do you do the top stitch under the coaster without showing the hemstitch on top ?
@NotchesSewing

that stitch is from when the webbing is sewn on. Then the webbing is ironed which holds everything in place. Watch the video again and it’ll all make sense. Cheers!😊

I use a laundry bag and wash with cold water on a gentle cycle and don’t have an issue with the webbing as I always iron them . If you like the look of this finish but am worried about this, you can do an invisible slip stitch on the back lining. Thanks for watching😊

This is lovely but that seam tape will not hold up to repeated washings. Why would you not top stitch?
@may-marydobie8638

I agree,I used it on trouser leg hems and after two washes it came apart.

The tape is definitely more delicate than topstitching. I use a laundry bag and wash with cold water on a gentle cycle and don’t have an issue with the webbing as I always iron them . As I mention in the video, I just feel some prints look better without a stitchline running through it. Kind of like not topstitching a pair of dress pants. This video is to show a different way of hemming and an easy way to mark folded mitred corners. This method is even used to finish hems in high end garments. Thanks for watching and all the best for the New Year!

I generally never recommend using this on pant hems. There’s a lot more wear and tear. It’s great in an emergency for a temporary hem . Thanks for watching.

@@NotchesSewing I wonder if you reinforced it with some perm glue along the edge it might hold up better. I see what you mean about some materials not looking great with top stitching going through them.
@NotchesSewing
@NotchesSewing 2 жыл бұрын
Yes totally, that’s a great idea! You could also do a slip stitch on the back lining too. I try not to add too much hand stitching in my project videos. ( I think some viewers are turned off by it)

Are these placemats washable?
@NotchesSewing
@NotchesSewing 2 жыл бұрын
Yes they are . I put mine in a laundry bag on gentle cycle and hang to dry. I re iron them each time. If you are worried your webbing won’t hold but still want the look of no topstitching, you can slip stitch the back hem to the back of lining.
