I have a suggestion for the bottom part that goes unseen. If you have beads that are colors you don't like or rarely use, use those beads for your base so you don't waste any of the precious black beads.

This is so cool :) There is green foam in the flower section called oasis which is much much easier to cut! lol you can use a regular sharp knife to cut it and it only makes a little dust residue, I take a floral design class and we use it all the time!

Just cut a square section out of the foam and stick it in the pot with a slit for the "roots" to fit into. Then cover the foam with rocks, marbles , moss , etc :)

I just cut the foam into cubes and press it into the container. As you know it molds as you press. So there isn't a need to sculpt / carve it. You could use spray foam. A little goes a long way. If it over fills you can slice it off. It's smelly at first, use outside, but it goes away. Just spray it into the container, let "grow", hold your flower in the foam to set--use two pencils taped together. While still tacky add moss to the top to cover the yellow / white foam.

hi here is a tip: Like u mentioned in the video the super hot setting makes all the beads melt and I. have been using perler beads for a long time and currently i am making 3D furniture and I like to totally melt woo the beads because if u let it dry for 2to5 min then u can peel it off and even if sum paper does stick to it just use a brush or sponge and water and get it off an it comes out shiny and gorgeous. just a tip

Just a suggestion for when u place your flower in the pot you can use maybe a type of sand you can pack it into. It may be a less of a mess(: and if u wanted u can still pack some foam at the bottom for support. Great video though. I'm definetly going to try it. (:

a good way to clean up all of the tiny foam pieces is a lint roller. it works really well!

You can use a bread knife for cutting the foam bread knifes cut foam really well

you can use clay but you have to put the plant in the middle for the correct size and then bake you will get it perfectly

Use silicon instead of foam. Just pour it in then have something holding the plant strait. Good as long as you don't want the plant out!

when you put the plant in the pot it may be easier to mold a ton of clay in the pot then take it out cut it in half then bake it.

Try fabric or a poly sponge foam and paint it brown and this might be a waist but it would be a cool idea u can but brown pular beeds

Before I saw this video I made something like this but with fake flowers I used aluminum foil to fill it up then I painted small pieces of foam a dark brown color then glued it to the the top. Thats how I make my " dirt"

I did a necklace with potatoes I let it just right there with a stick in the middle (cut 32 potatoes and 12 inch rope or anything) and let it rot then paint but let the potatoes like rock then paint it I painted it like marble I used turquoise and then black white and turquoise and put them in the rope and with beads then u have ur necklace:-)

You should make enamel beads with perler beads! Just put them faced up, away from each other, on a piece of parchment paper/ baking sheet and put them in the oven/ microwave for about 30 minutes! Scratch them off with a spatula or other utensil! Please do a tutorial!

hey i have question.. i bought the perler bead bottle at walmart and it came with a wax paper sample.. i made a piranha plant just like yours and used the small piece of wax paper and everything worked fine for me.. but since i needed more wax paper i bought one at HEB... i bought the one that it's HEB's generic brand and .. when i tried to iron another figure... it didnt not work and worst.. it messed up my entire figure >:@... could you tell me please where can i buy the wax paper .....

Hi Sarah, I realize you did this a while back, and maybe you've found a better way to deal with foam. If not they do sell these wire foam cutters, you can make them yourself too. I have seen a few tutorials on youtube that showcase this tool.

foam is good but it can get really messy and is not good to breathe in that stuff at all. Instead of the foam method i use cheap clay -- you can find 2-5lbs of clay for like $10 on amazon or michaels i usually fill the pot with 75% clay and the top layer with soil turns out great
