for image oil transfer

ESSENTIAL OILS
This process uses pure essential oils such as Wintergreen or Eucalyptus oil and has a very distinct painterly look. Essential oils are pure oils extracted from plants or trees and are often used in aromatherapy practice. Therefore they are relatively safe and provide a non-toxic way to do image transfer.
LASER PRINT
For this transfer to work you will need to print your image on a laser printer or make a copy of your image with a photocopy machine. The print or photocopy must be printed on a standard weight printer paper (this is very important or the transfer won’t work!) Standard weight often is referred to as 20lb. bond.
Important!
Not every kind of toner print will work! Some laser printers and copy machines use toner that does not transfer with oil.
In order to find out which printer and copy machines work with oil
transfer, you have to experiment with the different ones available to you
until you find the ones that do.
Generally speaking old printers and copy machines tend to work better.

Yes, eucalyptus oil is my favorite one. Yes, laser printer. You don't need to wait at all for the transfer to happen, its instantaneous. And yes, you can transfer color prints.

Good observation! :) You really don't have to use glass frosting, but I like to, as I like the appearance. I also usually spray frost the mirrors too. When you use glass frosting, transfer your image onto the frosted side as it adds some "tooth" and helps the transfer.

Yes color laser print can be transferred, however, the color tends to be quite faint.

Of course not, I just listed my printer as an example of one that works. However if you can't make the oil work you can replace it with 100% acetone. It works pretty much the same.

You can gently wash it, but if you're going to put it in a dishwasher it will probably be a good idea to seal it with water resistant sealer.

Yes it definitely sounds like you were using too much oil. So don't soak it just add a little, it's always easier to add more if you need to 👍

Since it's a laser or toner, it's quite archival already, but if you want, you can use any clear acrylic spray 👍

Sounds like a good plan! You can transfer color images but they tend to be very faint, so using a silhouette instead is a great idea 👍

@@NitsaCreativeStudio it will improve the image if u make the image darker, it will look better in color. Just like sublimation ink on clear glass u need to make it darker to be more effective. To do so edit the picture, add some saturation and reduce the light/brightness just a bit.

Help me please ..Ive used 100% EUCALYTUS oil and made use I used a laser jet printer and I still cant get this to work ..what am I doing wrong!??

Kate, some toner based copiers and lasers use toner that sadly doesn't transfer. So you need to experiment with the ones available to you until you find one that works. If all fails you can transfer with 100% acetone instead.

Does it matter the brand of the essential oil? I have some for aroma therapy, but not sure if the one you used is for massages. Do you prepare the glass in some way, like priming it with coating or was it just straight to the bare glass? Thank you!

I use the aroma therapy oils as well. The brand doesn't matter, the main thing is that they are 100% pure essential oils. You can use the glass without preparing it, but I like to coat one side with glass frosting.

Great Video! When transfering image to a mirror, does the image dry? Or since an oil was used, will the image rub off?

Yes, the image dries very quickly. And no the image won't rub off (unless you scratch it off or use acetone to remove it)

Hi. I like this idea, Nice clear info, thank u. I been trying to put print onto a glass brick and looking at different ideas that will work. A problem i have it it must stick well, do u have any ideas how to make it stick good and what kind of sealer would u suggest to prevent it from being scratched off. I know glass is a pain to stick onto. Do u agree that this should also stick onto a piece of clear sticky and or tinted vinyl. Just got a thought, if i used glass etchin on a glass brick it will make the glass frosted like i want and be a better bond for the picture

These are very creative ideas! I think sticking it on a clear vinyl or even sticky tape is one way of doing it, but I usually prefer transferring directly onto the glass. You can use essential oils or 100% acetone. Also you can try the method in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gavVY5amjt6so8U

You can use other essential oils but not all of them work. The best ones, other than eucalyptus are wintergreen, tea tree, peppermint, lavender, lemon and orange oil 👍
