the results were restrictions in carrying lithium batteries in bulk on passenger flights my battery bank is 3.7V at 100,000mAh that equals just 370Wh 370wh is hardly carrying batteries in bulk carrying in bulk would be more like carrying a 1-2KWh battery on board

@Purrbox : oh, neat, even better than what i thought ! Once dampened by resin under vacuum, and polymerized, it would be even easier to glue and shape while preserving the surface very soft and warm, with glossy or silky aspect and a waterproof bonus ! Perfect :) i'll keep that in mind, thanks ;)

@clard52 7 жыл бұрын
I actually kinda like the battery monitor idea (weird features and all) but design-wise you picked a bad spot for it, you reduced the potential size of the screen substantially and added a large unnecessary bezel. If it could've been squeezed in to the right of the track pad (or left I suppose,) or onto the side of the laptop with a button to turn it on (ala macbook)

Neat. I kinda like these type of projects since they are truly DIY. I mean not everyone has the money or the space for a 3D printer and most DIY channels rely way too much on them. If you are a kid or someone who just wants to do a project like this, if you 3d print your stuff that guy won't have any way of following your project.

There's another way to build the case without a 3d printer: cut plastic sheets, glue them up, pour epoxy resin and paint with spray. I've seen that on many custom mods that turn desk game consoles into handheld consoles, and it looks really well

love the ingenuity - as to the case, yes you could use wood, yes you could use alumnium, but what I love about your idea is its eco-creds... you could of course go to a nearest sign making store and ask for some corex board as a cardboard stiffner. to spend more using a laser cutter or get the steel made to the shape you have would all increase costs. a cheap stiffner is an old 30cm ruler that can be used to divide the partitions

You could but you’d still have to either design a shield for it to mount to or use a pre made sheild. You might be able to solder connectors directly to it instead of using a shield but that level of soldering is definitely not something I can do.

Hello, can you explain the magnet charging thing? It has a lithium ion charger module to reduce the micro usb charge but then you connect two magnets to the end of the wires. Do you solder the wire endings to the magnets or wrap them around? It doesn't interfere with magnet magnetic fields and the magnet magnetic fields with the charge?

Great video ... just a slip of tongue perhaps @ 2:54 ... it is not that thinner cable will cause the current to be too large and heat up the cable. The current may be too high for the cable and it would heat up if it is too thin. All things being equal, thinner cables would have higher resistance, causing it to heat up.

dude there is a way to solder a usb lead to the trackpad directly and it works !!!! you can read the voltage threw the gpio as you said and you van make a relay on off circuit to cut the power to all components and you can use hot glue better than that plastic goop also your pi displays the yellow symbol on the screen suggesting that it needs more power..the output of the power bank circuit is not enough use a buck converter and set it to 5.2 volts to remedy the loss in wire also a heatsink will help with thermals since my pi hits 80 degrees with the touch display assembled. also get a nice amp and add sound and your golden !!! i hope you addresse these issues in the V2 version !!! i have an hp laptop like the one you took the hinge from i found a way to use the existing lcd but i cant buy it since i live in tunisia and we don't have paypal

Very cool video. Loved the keyboard so i tried to find the donor you used. Too bad the link for it in your article is dead. Can anybody point to the make and model of this keyboard?

@@BuildItnowYour link in the comments to instructible page works but on that page your link to the mini usb keyboard under the parts list goes to a dead bangood page. :(

great video - now where did you get this RGB LCD HAT? i did not see it linked in your instructions. as an alternative i could also use a LCD control board that does not take up a lot of space or has thick connectors (HDMI is ok but VGA or chinch would make it too thick) i already have a 1024x600 screen that i salvaged from a broken tablet and it has a 50 pin TTL ribbon cable - would that work for the LCD HAT? i ordered a control board but it was the wrong one and is driving the display at 800x480 resulting in some weird blank spaces on the edge of the screen

To save money. i'm relatively new to raspberry pi all though i have had one for a few years. is this possible? i use my pi on a 43 inch tv with a full sized keyboard and mouse with no problem

I don't think soldering off the USB headers is the way to go. How about a slightly customized PCB instead?

+Timothy Chapman I'm not entirely sure what you mean, a customized PCB for the GPIO?

I'm making my own 3d model for a case to hold this thing, it's going to have a swappable battery bank and stuff, it'll be a little bit before I can print it and make sure everything works, but I'd be able to send you the obj after I test it Edit: Well the case is about 8'' wide, so I guess your printer wouldn't be able to print it without you printing it in multiple pieces and gluing it together, but I could always mail one to you.

Wow this sounds amazing! Id love to see the final product when you finish it. I recently got an Ender 3 and will be printing a case for a Windows 10 laptop project. Stay tuned for that video
