Thank you for the help and step by step tutorial, i finally can do a proper use for my old raspberry pi 3, a tip if you are having troubles with video streams / codecs from different vendors, try to use always h264 instead of h265, also video source resolution should be minor that the monitor total resolution, so in that case you can use 2nd stream source from cameras if you have a high resolution survelliance video camera

This is really really good. Thanks!! I think you could also recommend some cameras (common ones like Reolink CX410) and show to to step up and also access from mobile. It would be the best Surveillance set up in youtube. Thanks again.

My current setup is mostly Ubiquiti. I might do some more Camera Comparisons in future. For this project, so long as you can get an RTSP Stream, you should be good.

@@HiveMindAutomation yeah, that's the main problem. I've contract with ADT and the camera Im using is " ADC-V724 1080p Outdoor Wi-Fi Camera" but they basically block the access.. even the panel " Qolsys IQ Panel 2- Telus" doesnt work if you dont have a contract. Thanks

Great tutorial. Which version of raspbian should I download for raspberry pi 3?

For the DisplayCameras project you NEED Raspbian Buster. Anything newer won't work because of issues with the streaming.

I've been using the display cameras on 3b+ for over 6 years, never updated it and running 4 rtsp from pizero 2w with no problems ever all over wifi.

yeah I've been happy with it on the 3B+. Only thing I MIGHT do is run an Ethernet cable to it so it's not pulling the streams over Wifi

Hello, great video. I have a similar setup but without rotation, instead I install an mqtt client on pi zero w2 (in my case) and I control the layout with node-red, also from node-red I send a 'refresh' command every hour in case the screen freezes. As extra features you can play stream radio or local audio files on the same display (command from node-red).

Thanks great … can i use this also with the rasp pi zero2 w with the cam v3
@HiveMindAutomation

Honestly I don't know. It's likely that it will struggle a bit to run multiple streams due to resource limitations. I've never used a PiZero W though, so I honestly can't be certain.

Missing in the video and what is needed to get viewers is at intro you show a sneak peak of the final result.

Nice and great, but some of my rtsp cameras like tplink and hikvision limits 2 rtsp connection at the same time, do you know any workarounds ? Thanks

You could look at sending the streams to something like Frigate which can re-stream out....

I've got some plans to do a video on Frigate soon. I'll probably not get a chance to discuss Re-Streaming in that video, but if it's something that's useful I might try to squeeze it in.

Can you add more than 4 on screen feeds? Like if we wanted 9?
@HiveMindAutomation
@HiveMindAutomation Ай бұрын
Theoretically yes, but I'm not 100% certain, and you might need a more powerful Pi to handle it. Can't hurt to try! You'd obviously need to figure out the start and end pixel numbering for 1/9 of the screen instead of 1/4.
