This plug is not good at all. After being plugged in for a while, it gets very hot, too hot to be considered safe. I have never had a plug that gets this hot after being plugged in. I don’t dare to use it any longer than this. I don’t trust it at all and feel unsafe.

i am thinking of buying them . but i have a question ... do they work with 2.4 ghz wifi too? i only want to connect them to my iphone
@HiveMindAutomation
@HiveMindAutomation Күн бұрын
They are Matter over Thread, so they won't run on 2.4GHz Wifi. You need a Thread Border Router that would connect to your 2.4GHz WiFi, and act as a bridge. That said, I believe the iPhone 15 has a Thread radio built in, but I'm not sure if it'll interface directly. If you're looking for smart lightbulbs that explicitly work on 2.4 GHz Wifi, I HIGHLY recommend the LIFX branded lights, but they're a bit pricier, but haven't yet adopted the Matter standard. For a less pricey option, Wiz operate on 2.4GHz and there's now Matter over Wi-Fi bulbs available.

Why not just install landscape lighting? Because the low voltage transformers (they are powered through) have dusk/dawn photocell sensor and timer functions to make their operation effortless. Plus you get the added benefit of adding to your homes curb appeal and your cameras won’t have to readjust all their optical sensors and value settings to try and capture a clear and balanced image each time there is a motion sensor event. Also...... people are less likely to mess with properties that have landscape lighting that might put them at risk of being spotted in the act, or identified afterwards.

All that command line for just a copy and paste of a folder? Why?
@HiveMindAutomation
@HiveMindAutomation 8 күн бұрын
Why not? I work in IT in my Day Job and can do plenty of stuff quicker in CLI than I can using a mouse. And - in my opinion - using the Command Line keeps me "sharp" But Mostly because the copy/paste of the folder is happening on a remote server, not my local computer. Doing a copy/paste of a folder on a remote server over SMB is extremely inefficient.because it copies the folder down to the computer you're working from, then copies it back up to the remote server. Over Wi-fi that would've taken ages to essentially transfer 24GB

i had this working since years. Few months ago i found it not working anymore. Everything is as your guide, besides the ir remote name in HA is remote.ir_salotto (i dont have the _remote in the name, because the integration didn't add it) in the smartir definition i tried both remote.ir_salotto and remote.ir_salotto_remote but when calling the send command from developer tools, it always give me unknown error, and in the log i see, in order: - Referenced entities remote.ir_salotto_remote are missing or not currently available - Failed to call remote.send_command: Command not found: 'on' - websocket_api script: Error executing script. Unexpected error for call_service at pos 1: Command not found: 'on'
@HiveMindAutomation
@HiveMindAutomation Күн бұрын
so Command not found 'on' pretty much just means there's no such command as "on" in the remote definition. when you're using remote.send_command you need to send the base64 encoded command. i.e. for a Fujitsu Aircon like in my video, to turn on the heater to 22ºC with the fan set to "High", I'd need to send: "JgAEAWQyDAwMDAwlDAwMJQwMDAwMDAwlDCUMDAwMDAwMJQwlDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMJQwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDCUMDAwMDAwMDAwlDCUMJQwlDCUMJQwlDCUMDAwMDCUMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDCUMJQwMDAwMJQwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwlDAwMDAwlDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwlDAwMDAwMDCUMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDCUMDAwMDAwMJQwMDCUMJQwMDAwMDAwADGgNBQ" If you've setup SmartIR, it exposes your target device as a climate or fan or media_player entity depending on the device you setup with it. So then to turn on the AirCon, you call the service with - in my case: service: climate.turn_on target: entity_id: climate.bedroom_ac data: {}

Lots of people don't wear a watch nowadays (e.g., none in my extended family), the keys are left by the door, and the phone is wherever whenever, and in my home we have 2 phones between the 4 of us, since kids don't have their own phones, but they occasionally use our phones for games or videos or music. Anything tracking BT is just not going to work. I'm shocked if it would work for the majority of households. That said, when we're looking for some phone it'd be useful to know in which room it is, but there are other, simpler solutions to that.

Do you have any sample configs that you could share? Is there an integration that is required? Cheers.

Nice but Useless. You need stand alone Alarm System. with backup battery Not depending on HA. at ALL.
@HiveMindAutomation
@HiveMindAutomation 22 күн бұрын
You're missing some important info here: - My Home Assistant Yellow runs off PoE - My PoE switch is powered through a UPS/Battery Backup - My Zigbee Bridge is built into the HA Yellow, so also covered by the UPS While it's not entirely clear from your comment, I'm getting a vibe that you dislike Home Assistant for some reason, but you've not provided any real reasoning as to why you say "Not depending on HA at ALL" Sure, Standalone systems are great with hard-wired sensors etc. but, not everyone is in a position to spend thousands on installing a home alarm system that is going to be: - rigidly defined and impossible to customise - a complete pain to upgrade in the future (add sensors, integrate better "smarts" etc) - potentially in a home they rent I'm not saying this setup is for a High-security fortress. What it is is accessible to anyone with Home Assistant and a handful of sensors. Before writing off anyone else's setup as "useless", I suggest taking a second to consider use-cases that might not be the same as yours instead of alienating the thousands of people in the world that use Home Assistant as an Alarm System.

It seems the procedure outlined for gathering local keys no longer works for new objects going into tuya cloud. I get a blank local_key with new lights I purchased intending to put into local tuya. This video was the original video I followed in 2022 to get all my other lights in local tuya. FYI for those lights and switches I still have access to the local_keys and when I run the same API call it returns the local_key still, just not these new lights. I am reading there was some tuya cloud 2.0 changes that render this process dead for new tuya devices. Hopefully someone shares with me a method that proves me wrong.

I think some of the newer devices are making use of a new API which unfortunately means the Local Tuya functions are no longer compatible. I need to do some more digging. That Said, Tuya are part of the CSA working group on Matter, so I'm waiting for them to get a Matter Device out.

Litter mat and Deoderizer are not included by default. Same thing for the internal light which is part of the deoridizer. And the light does not turn on when the cat is pooping or when you need to clean it, you need to enable the light manually which is a shame considering it has all these sensors that could automate the light. On top of that the light and deodarizer don't use the electricity of the box -> you need extra batteries Right now I 'm struggeling to find how I can bind my cats to this device because the app is not intuitive, I don't see any weighting options within the device. My cats exist within the application but I don't see how to bind them to this specific device. every time one of my 2 cats goes to the box it does not measure weight and does not recogonise a cat. its not like all those promo videos
@HiveMindAutomation
@HiveMindAutomation Ай бұрын
The Litter mat and deodoriser was included with ours, but we don't use the deodoriser because there's been reports of it causing respiratory issues for some people's cats, so I don't bother with the extra batteries. The litter box should recognise the cats if you've set their weight in the app, but I think they need to be at least marginally different weights. When the cat enters the box, it weighs the cat, and - based on that weight - determines which cat is in there. I have some suspicion that the weight mightn't be 100% accurate, so check the last-logged weight in the box, and assign that weight to the relevant cat.
