I used this video recently to guide me through a few things I had questions about and it was really helpful - thanks! BTW, I noticed that you don't need to go crazy turning that spindle on the e-brake once at that step. Before doing that at all I tried compressing the caliper and would get nowhere, so I got a small wrench on it as you do in the video, but rather than turn it that much I gave it a spin, then was able to compress the caliper to a point.. Rinse/repeat until I was able to get the caliper compressed enough for the new pads to go on. Once all re-assembled I had no issues at all with e-brake, warning lights etc. Also as others have pointed out the big allen you need is a 7mm, and I had to get a little creative with getting those 15MM bolts off that hold the caliper bracket on with two wrenches. All in all as mentioned this was a great run through of it.

I'm not sure what the electrical connectors are like on the SPA Volvo parking brake but on the older generation XC60, it's easy to wind back the motor using a 9V battery and a couple of wires with spade connectors on the ends. Saves having to split the motor from the caliper as you really should change the o ring if you do that

Please do not ever squeeze your caliber piston in like that. Pliers have teeth/grooves that can damage the piston. If you damage the piston near the edge you run the risk of cutting/rubbing through the piston boot and all your brake fluid will pushed out of that new hole and you will have no brakes. Since most people will not have a special tool, just get a bigger pliers and leave the worn out inside pad/backing plate in place as a buffer between the piston and your pliers. Once the piston is recessed, remove the old inside pad/backing plate.

Technically, the boot just keeps dust off the piston, it’s not part of the hydraulics. Still something you should avoid damaging if possible.

having just did this today on a 18 S90 it was pretty easy. i did do it differently in that i remove the caliper and turned it over to access the screws for motor. did not disconnect the wires. 2 screws, pull off motor, turn adjuster and push back piston. taking the motor off took 2 minutes at most. did both sides in 1/2 hour . i read that the parking motor need to be calibrated, but got lucky in that light did not even come on. when you have the dealer do it, remember that free coffee is not free. Great video, and thanks. A few comments; my dealer wanted $850 for this job which is crazy, the yellow clip for the parking brake connection is fragile and I broke mine with gentle pressure. I discovered that it does not really need to be disconnected as you can work around that when removing that whole assembly, not a problem at all. Now, I can go off and spend the money I saved! :)

At 4;15, you tighten the electronic brake until you cannot tighten anymore, but when you assemble everything back you don't touch this. Did you miss something in this video or can we just not touch it when we assemble back? Thank you for the video.

Just a question. When you turn your engine off and you are working on the rear brakes, the electronic brake is switched on, isn't it? When you are disassembling the electronic brake little engine, it is activated, or it is not?
@TommyLGarage

No, just make sure your automatic parking brake is not enabled. You can disable it in the settings.

Smaller pads and less material. And rear brakes control speed during automatic driving
