This is a great video and great idea. I will use this to make one for my skiff. The only thing I am adding is some weight to the top of the pole, so when it goes down, the weight pushes it deeper into the ground so it holds better. Thank you for the idea.

Glad to help Melvin. The top weight is a good idea.

Can you eliminate the lower pulley and just tie to the eyebolt?
@Aksmaniyak4 жыл бұрын
You could but the extra pulley means less force is needed to operate it.

Have you had any concers/problems with the shaft not having enough flex because its metal? I had a similar concept to yours, I'm just worried about the mount breaking or damaging the kayak because there's not enough give to the setup.
@Aksmaniyak4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan. No that hasn't been an issue. I think if you are in that much current to break the mount then it might be a good idea to move from the location. JMHO.

All I'm saying is this is some genius shit. You need to patent and manufacture this so us poor guys who cant afford the power pole micros have a decent deployable stake out system. I mean anchor trollies are all well and good, but id rather cast forward in a river than from the side.

Check out Yakgadget.com they make a bunch of these for all kinds of kayaks. Though this one is great if you have a mount like that laying around.

I have a similar set up on my Yak except I use a fiberglass rod for the pole. All of the components including the pole cost me about $75. Simple to make.

I bought mine on Ebay. You can also find them on AliExpress.

I see you have an X Seat on the kayak now. Is this the same kayak you had a few yearrs ago when you mounted a boat seat on a NuCanoe base? I also see an anchor trolley on this kayak. Did you replace the anchor trolley with the fixed stern mounted anchor system?
@gpdory4 жыл бұрын
Nice job 👍 does the stake out pole stay on the boat when you transport it?. I did something kinda similar, I used a 1/2" fiberglass pole 8' long and made a aluminum tip with a blunt point that slip's over the end of the pole with a removable pin so I could detach the point and remove the pole when thansporting the boat.
@Aksmaniyak4 жыл бұрын
You can leave it on during transport. Just release the lever lock and lay it down.

Is there a certain size of minn Kota trolling mount you used, because there are a lot of different models
@Aksmaniyak4 жыл бұрын
It is a standard 1 1/8 inch diameter shaft mount.
