DIY Resin 3D Printing Wash Station with Magnetic Stirring

This is a quick showcase of my DIY wash station for resin 3d prints. This is a fairly popular design, using a 12V computer fan with neodymium magnets and an impeller to stir the liquid. I tried to make the whole thing slightly more convenient to use by printing a base and adding a switch. I also made a mount to support the build plate, allowing me to take parts directly off the printer and placing them in the wash station without touching uncured resin.

Hmm a tub, a old PC fan (got a lot of those) magnets (wonder if the ones I have work) and a way to spin it... Interesting gave me a idea

Nice build, I'm trying to recreate one myself but I'm having issues with the polarity of the magnets. The impeller doesn't want to rotate with the fan

It's essential to get the impeller as close as possible to the rotating magnets, and to run the fan slowly at first. Please check eck out my later videos where I built a better version of this machine

12V power supply or 3s LiPo battery

This is the exact setup I’ve been trying to get together, the last hang up for me was suspending the prints in the IPA without touching the magnetic stirrer The mount attached to the lid seems like just the trick, where can I get my hands on (or print) a mount like that?

If you're interested I can send you the files for the one I made. However, it will only work for a creality LD 002-R as it is a press fit over the build plate. You will probably need to change the design to fit your printer's build platform.

Right now I use FDM printer. I want to get into resin printing. I was wondering, how the alcohol washing station gets cleaned? After every wash, poor into a jug and take to a disposable place?

The alcohol can be filtered and reused a few times. It is important to let the resin residue sit in the sunlight for a few days to cure completely. After that the resin is not toxic anymore and can be disposed like normal plastic

It's not gonna cause any flame during the stirring right?

The motor can cause some sparks but in order to ignite a fire there would need to be direct contact between the alcohol and the electronics. In this case the motor is completely covered by the plastic, and the alcohol is in a sealed container, so I feel quite safe.

this is very bad, first the spinner is printed on PLA? PLA dissolve on alcohol in time you should have printed it on ABS. And the 12V fans are SH1T!!!! they have no capacitor. You are confusing people with this tutorial this is not helpfull

First of all, PLA does not dissolve in alcohol, I've had pieces submerged for months without issues. A 12V is definitely not the best solution but it's something easy to get, most people probably already have one they can use and as you can clearly see, it works. PLA dissolves in acetone, not alcohol as stated

@@cutescarydolls Even so, my PLA impeller still works after more than a year of being under alcohol. If it ever gets damaged I could print another one in 10 minutes and be good far another year. Why is this such a big issue for you?
