DIY RIVET-TOGETHER LIVEWELL! 16' Jon Boat To Bass Boat Video 10

This is the livewell we will be using the the 16' Jon boat to bass boat conversion. I have shared this livewell with you guys before, but it was flat and in 5 separate pieces. This is how I put it together. Later on we will discuss the system we will be using to keep fish alive and the livewell running smoothly. Also check out mikes video linked below.

Great video. I watched all the way through because I enjoy seeing the process. Here is a good question for you. Being that there are rivets sticking out on the corners, are you concerned about injuring the fish at all as they move about in there? If so, what did you do to remove the sections where the rivets pop out on the inside? I ask because I'm strongly kicking around the idea of converting one of my storage compartments in my boat which is all aluminum into a livewell. It is not fully sealed and has some rivets that stick out inside the box. Sealing is not a big deal, but the rivets are, as I don't want to cause any injuries to whatever fish are in there be it bass or striper.

Cool live well. I am just wondering the price between buying something like this and ordering it as pieces and buying the rivets, and the 5200. What are your thoughts?

So, the first time I build this boat, I purchased a plastic livewell from a oem marine store. It was huge, and I was nervous that it wouldn't end up fitting in the boat. I spent a lot on it, and framing around it was a pain. This livewell is smaller, but makes much more sense for my boat. It will last longer, and will be easier to frame in. The rivets come with the livewell, only other thing you would need to purchase is the 5200

Im not sure if i missed this in the video but what material, size were the live well walls? And did it come pre-bend?

6061 I believe? .090, yes prebent

Will aluminum brazing be easier and seal just as good. I dont know if its considered strong enough for this application. With water, fish, etc

I dont think it would. I dont have much experience with brazing, but the little I have done did not seem to be very strong.

Great video. That 5200 will hold for ever, did't even need to put all them rivets but I understand the concern if didn't.
