Excellent tutorial! Thank you! I bought some curtains from a thrift store for $7 for the pair with grommets (not my gig) for an upcoming move. Just need some liner and to borrow a machine and get to making my new home a "thrifted-homemade" some cool shades! I appreciate your channel!

Yes! Cordless demo please!!
@kathrynnewillhoite43425 ай бұрын
Would love to see the cordless method! I made one using a cordless mini blind mechanism but I’m not loving how it turned out. You’re the first one I’ve seen that has said we don’t necessarily need dowels. Will make my next one so much easier.
@MimzyandCompany5 ай бұрын
Yes, much easier. I’ve made many shades without dowels.

Does the lack of dowel make the bottom have a drapery curve at the bottom? I've used dowels, so can I just take them out?
@MimzyandCompany4 ай бұрын
@@flb708 I use a dowel or some sort of weight bar at the bottom. Sometimes just a 1x2. That keeps it pretty straight as long as you space your rings close enough together horizontally.

Great video, I took pages of notes, made diagrams and I think I'm ready to rumble! I will do that dance of joy when I can throw out my old ugly blinds and replace them with handmade beautiful shades!! Just to clarify, for the centre rings, you just do the same, tie each cord on the bottom ring, go up , through the above eye hook and over in the same direction as all the others, I'm a newbee! I have enough fabric and decorative fringe to open a store.... but I have been intimidated to actually start cutting!! I bit off more than I can chew methinks. I also plan on making swags, jobots, cornices, lambrequins etc. I need to make draperies for my whole house! And you also you would put, my mind escaped me, the cleat? The double ended hook onto the window frame to tie off all your ends. If you are adding fringe or trim with tassels at the bottom, would you use hot glue or sew them? My sewing skills of that of a 2nd grader! haha I also have gorgeous embroidered trim/ribbon, about 2.5- 3 inches wide that I want to add at each side running from top to bottom. For it to lay flat against the fabric, would you machine sew it on on each side, I would hate to at a seam through the middle of it but it's thick! Would that be hand sewn on, yikes!! Or stitch witchery? Though, it's so delicate, I would be terrified to damage it with the iron!! Or hot glue or both? I'm not an experienced seamstress, I'm sure that's clear! I just don't want it to bulge or lay weird when the blind is being pulled up and down, it should lay flat against the fabric. Other than that, I think I just might be read to give this a try! I only need to make 8 of them!! I've watched endless videos and so far this has been the best one to really nail down the details. Somewhere in my craft boxes I have the entire kits...with the spring loaded gadgets...praying to the Sewing gods that I find everything! Thank you so much for the inspiration!!

Thanks! The fabric is from @fabric-store.com. it's rustic grey color in the 7.1 ounce linen. It sounds wierd that the color is grey but the fabric is actually pink but it is...the link... fabrics-store.com/fabrics/linen-fabric-4C22-shadow-grey-softened-heavy
