I've ever rusted metal before... usually find it out in barn... but I've rusted paper with cinnamon. Thanks for this. Love when you get "dangerous"!

Thanks for this, Christy, this is so helpful for someone like me, to get our toe in the water. You’re so fearless!!! Wear gloves!!! If that stuff is corrosive enough to rust paper clips so fast, just think what it could do to those fingers! The reason the soda can doesn’t rust is that it’s aluminum and aluminum won’t rust. And, just another thing, hydrogen peroxide is something that some bombs are made of 😮. Not the stuff you’re using, not the stuff that you can get over the counter, but take care to pay attention to the strength on the label and how warm it’s getting. You can even have an ice bath by just in case things seem to be getting out of hand. Just in case. 😅😊 And wear gloves!!! What about washing the things then rinse with alcohol and let dry thoroughly. Don’t let any alcohol stay behind - another chemical reaction. But, then there wouldn’t be any grease or dirt coating to keep it from rusting faster. The the sticks are just the same as paper. 🤔 And wear GLOVES!!! You sound like you live right next door to me here in Austin, TX, get on down to the H-E-B and get you some of them cheap vinyl gloves… 😂😊 I just love your show and I don’t miss a one 😊🥰💙

@Sweepear you made me smile 😃 I LOVE you saying to wear gloves! Yes, I certainly should. Thank you so much for caring. You're sweet as can be. Thank you, thank you. You made my day. I love your comments sweet lady, you're the best! I can just hear you in my head getting on to me 😆 it comes from love, and that makes me smile ❤️❤️ and, thank you for letting me know about the aluminum. I didn't think of that. Also, you're right about the wood,, 🤔 weird

Hey Christy, watched bright and early before my doctors appt this morning, then stops along the way home. That was fun, big temp drop, then snow, areas of white-outs and high winds, then nothing but wet streets, it was crazy coming home, yep, let the good times roll.... ❄🥶❄ I've tried different methods as well, I currently have had some brads soaking for 2 days, not much reaction. They were in a baggie, 25 cents from the thrift store, but think they're brass, so may not get any results. As far as staples, very little luck there. First batch I shook the jar a few times, I always do when rusting stuff, they all came apart, and there were 2 strips of plastic or tape, I guess they're held together by that. Next batch, same thing, only didn't shake the pan, but thy were totally covered with the solution so same thing, the strips holding them together came free. 3rd attempt, I put the staples on paper towel and drizzled a bit of the solution on top, when dry-ish, I flip them and do the same thing. I did it several times over two days, got some rust, not as much as I'd like, but at least they didn't fall apart. I think I'm gonna give your solution, which is stronger than mine and see what happens, but won't soak them. Will try your solutions with the brads since they're not rusting well either. Thanks so much for all the info, appreciate it.💜💜💜

@carolm9451 hi Carol! Sounds like you had quite the trip! I'm in Missouri. We had snow on the ground this morning, but melted very quickly. I've rusted some things that looked gold, and I found if I took them out of solution, and didn't let all the solution drip off, they formed"some"rusting. Probably didn't actually rust the metal, more like the solution dried on. Any way, it's fun to experiment. I love your tip on the staples too. Thank you, and stay warm!😊❤️

thank you for this video. I have been so confused because I rusted some paperclips and they did great. later I tried a different batch and nothing happened. I never thought about the different brands or types of metal! and one batch just turned grayish color. now i know why. ty Christy 😊

W - been wondering how this was being done. So you I use the left behind rusty liquid to stain papers etc? Do you give metals a neutralizing bath?
@CraftedByChristyShop
@CraftedByChristyShop 14 күн бұрын
@LaurelR-e9s thank you for your comments. Yes, I stain all the things with the liquid. No, I don't put a neutralizer on. That's why my rust sheds. There is something to put on to stop that. And, I think there's videos to show that too. I just always loved the rust texture, and the residue it leaves on papers, and such. So, please check out how to coat afterwards. I know there is a way. I just haven't done it. Thank you so much!!😊❤️
