Woah that's a lot of parts! And costs right? Marty ya got the welder out there, why not knock out a cool rack and teach the boy how to weld at the same time? Teach a man to fish.....you have an independent welder when you need him. It does look cool and I had to see if you got more snow than us. Be Blessed

That was an amazing project and I am already thinking of other ideas for using the rack!! Like the bottom for bags of plant mulch, soil etc. The middle shelf for pots, seed trays. The top would be perfect for gloves, packets of seeds & planting tools!!

To save some money, check your local Habitat Restore. Ours has bins of pipe fittings at very cheap prices. Pallet wood could be used and then stain with your own steel wool and vinegar stain. Harbor Freight is a good source for wheels. Great project.

That is a nice looking wood rack. But with the cost of all those pipe fittings it had to be very expensive. My guess you could have bought two of something similar from Amazon cheaper.

Yes! Love it! Good idea for our new cabin! Do you have access to any birch bark? That’s all we use to start our fires, it’s better than newspaper. You’re more than welcome to come up here for some next spring/summer. We always end up with way more than we need.

Lovely lovely rack! My only addition would be to put some paint on the frame that holds the wood and kindling. A coat of black shiny paint or brown shiny paint to match the wood would be the crowning touch. I like it!!!

I build mine from 2x4's 8 feet long, 6 feet high for $30.. One by the wood stove, one w/ kindling in the garage, and one outside..... . All for under $100.

In Galicia (In the north of spain ) we use pine fruit or pine cone ( i dont really know the name in english) when they are dry to start the fire. In galicia we have a lot of this and you can pikcup for free in the woods.

now it may feel expensive .. that's the start of an investment, it's only a matter of time when the time comes when all solar components become cheaper. and we should get used to it so as not to be surprised one day the world uses solar power. a good step , Martin
