I was just going to suggest that tie-dye works beautiful in these summer dresses. I was suggest grateful dyes if you were on the West Coast and there's another professional dye place on the east coast called dharma trading. both have wonderful professional dyes. You have to soak your fabric first in soda ash for 15 minutes or you can even spray it on and then you spin the fabric until it's barely damp and then you apply the dyes you can scrunch the fabric you can paint the dye on and that results in beautiful beautiful fabrics and beautiful colors you can't get any place else. I always get tons of compliments on the clothing I make myself and dye myself. You learn how to mix the dyes fairly quickly but there's a lot of tutorials on dye mixing or you can just buy them pre-mixed at these places and they have beautiful colors. Again great job on the tutorial. I was able to buy 60-in wide fabric from dharma trading for $4 a yard so I have tons of it I bought a whole bolt. And the cotton is super soft and super strong I believe it was mixed with rayon. but excellent job on the tutorial and your dress design is great. loved it

Being an artist and a single mom in expensive times I take a lot of satisfaction in being able to recycle and upcycle many items for everyday use. I bought myself a sewing machine about a year ago and have been scanning youtube videos for inspiration. I just came across you today and think you're my favourite. Your personality and creativeness shine. I'm going to try and make a dress like this but cheat by using the sewing machine. Thank you for the idea and I'll be seeing all your future videos.

Love it!! A random piece of advice for anyone upcycling (or buying clothes) - if you have trouble with feeling very sweaty in some clothes, pay attention to the fiber content! Synthetic fibers like polyester, nylon, elastane, etc, can cause the fabric to not "breathe", trapping heat and moisture causing you to feel really sweaty. Stick to natural fibers like cotton, linen, wool, silk, hemp, etc as well as processed natural fibers like viscose and modal. Anything with synthetic content over 5%, doesn't work for me. 95% cotton 5% elastane is fine but things like 70% cotton 30% polyester is a nono for me, wayy to clammy and uncomfortable. Just a tip, this took me DECADES to discover lol

Thanks so much for that! I’m sure it will help a ton of people.

Gurl' this is absolutely fantastic, I have a "Desiqual" Tshirt dress that I found at TjMaxx for $22 over a year ago that is a small but I can wear medium yet usually wear large. Sure enough it fits ok being Tshirt material but it's too short for me (old enough to be your mom 🙂). So I've worn it with pants underneath but said to myself I need to decide on a way to wear it as a dress such as put a slip dress underneath or somethin'🤔 Low-n- behold here you are today with my solution ☺️😁 of adding to the bottom of this dress!👏🏿🎉💖 Pass the collection plate Sis😘 And don't get me started on the dress you just showed us. Beautiful! I started upcycling t-shirts myself a couple of years ago when I had a v-neck shaped tee in a colour (raspberry pink) and style I loved but it was too short, so I grabbed some other old tees from my wardrobe (one white and one turquoise) that I liked the colour of but not fond of the logos on them and they were too wide with no shape. I kept the top with the shape at the top pretty much the same (cut off the bottom hem) and added the other 2 wide ones below. I added side slits to the bottom layer and came out with a super comfortable summer dress that I get complements on whenever I wear it. (My grandson calls it my bomb-pop dress). I liked it so much that I did the same with a white sleeveless v-neck tee on top, and did a tier of navy, and a tier of gathered gray and added gray patch pockets. I absolutely love it and have also received many compliments. I used a sewing machine to make both of mine but watching you make this beautiful sundress I am inspired with the idea of making a peplum top! Thank you for sharing your wonderful creativity, you are truly amazing!

Maybe four of 'em with one being sleeveless, one strap, one narrow shoulders (forget what those are called), and, one with the sleeves as originally on the shirt. I was just watching a video about belly dancing. And she taught how to make a hip scarf out of a T-shirt. She also teaches in another video how to make a top from the top of a t-shirt for belly dance. Now I find you, wish I'd known this years ago. My husband used to get so many T-shirts from all the different vendors he worked with. Always large or extra large and he folded them up put them on a shelf for years. When he passed from cancer I'm not kidding there had to have been 700 t-shirts throughout the house so fold it up. I donated them to salvation army I think. Now I wish I'd kept them man, I'd have dresses like you wouldn't believe. I really enjoy sewing, but lately I haven't had the time to sew. The fact that I can sit and do this while watching my sister or my dad, both in bad health. I love to recycle, and upcycle. I was beginning to aprons still am. But I do need summer dresses so I thank you from the bottom of my heart, for your information on how to make a no-sew summer dress. Thanks a bunch. CL
