That was so satisfying. I love the feel of buttons next to each other. We just don’t give buttons enough credit. Thank you. So meditative; now I can sleep with my happy brain all wrapped up and tucked in just like the thread.

Thank you for making this video and for validating sewing the buttons all the way through all the layers. This is the technique I use as well, with one tiny addition. After wrapping the shank and before moving to the next button, I tie through the loop to secure it, then pass my needle between the layers to the next marked spot. I like your technique of fewer threads through the last 3 buttons, and plan to adopt this practice. Thanks so much.

Very nice technique. I would love it if you would do a video about hand-sewing needles.

I am so glad I found your channel, I've learned so much granted I am just barely beginning my sewing journey. I would like to ask you to please explain and give a tutorial about making your own bias strips. There are many videos that show how to make thin bias tape, but I am having a difficult time figuring out how to translate that into combining two 3 inch rectangle pieces to stretch your scraps to make a waistband. I tried it on my last skirt and did it wrong 3 times in a row; so badly that I wound up just forfeiting the scraps and cutting into the last uncut portion of my yardage (which means I no longer have enough to make any accessories to match, sad times). Please film a video to show the best way to stitch up a waistband on the bias out of remainders.
@sewshowwithshae7 ай бұрын
I will be honest with you, I would never use bias cut strips to create a waistband so this is not a likely video. A biased cut waistband made from one section of fabric is definitely a possibility, but fabric cut into different chunks each with slightly different grains all quilted together is just hard to imagine working out. If you do have any luck with it, I’d love to know!

The Algorithm was kind to me and I found what I was after on the Howcast channel from ten years ago!! It is for quilting which makes sense. It's a good skill to have even if it isn't couture. @@sewshowwithshae

Your videos are amazing! Thank you so much! One question - where can I get the button placement tool (Wawak)?

Of course! Wawak is really the only place I trust for notions and materials.

Do you show how to sew the cascading buttons on a suit jacket?

Can we change a fake button cuffs suit in to suit has functional surgeon cuffs by cutting sleeves and do little bit work 🤔

I was watching a cheesy hallmark chick flick once and the main girl was hand sewing. She literally did what you mentioned about pulling the needle way back to a ridiculous length. She could’ve poked someone if there was someone behind her. I couldn’t stop laughing 😂.

Any thoughts on functional sleeve buttons?
@sewshowwithshae7 ай бұрын
Yes, they are an absolute nightmare. We often end shortening the sleeve from the shoulder but it is not my favorite procedure and so I haven’t filmed it yet because I’m being a weenie about it.
@suelandman87017 ай бұрын
Ugh, I just shortened a jacket sleeve at the shoulder for a female client. I did it there because it was faux leather (pleather, vinyl) and the cuffs had zippers and would have shown a bunch of needle holes. Also, in this case, it was easier than messing with the zipper(s). That was the first time I did anything like that and it sure made me nervous. That jacket turned out really nice. Today I'm tackling shortening sleeves at the cuff and have had your videos on repeat. If weren't for your alteration videos I would have been too scared to try it. So, we rely on your expertise and truly learn from you. (And I've been sewing for 57 years! Yikes! I started as an infant.😂)

Would this be the same for shank buttons?
@sewshowwithshae6 ай бұрын
Yes! I would just make sure that when you wrap the thread on the top side, your wrapping it beneath the physical shank of the button, it will look cleaner and stay stronger.

I wish you would have given the separation measurement between buttons.
@sewshowwithshae7 ай бұрын
The placement is a little bit dependent on button size and how much you would like the buttons touching so the easiest way to do this is to line your buttons up and mark based on the aesthetic you’re looking for versus using a measurement.
