Thank you. I like how you slowly pulled it out and showed the direction of the seal. I took off the primary cover and couldn't figure out its placement. So thanks!!!

I remember when you were hanging drywall in that garage. It looks great . Nice clean place to store and work on your bike. The video was straightforward and helpful. Anything you can learn to do as far as maintenance or repairs is a huge help. And a great way to save a few bucks. Thanks again Ride Safe

I’ve replaced this silly annoying seal several times since I bought my Sporty new in 2004. Just one of those little annoyances that goes with owning a Sportster but I still love the bike. Cheers 🍻

Bud Irwin thank you. I will be doing more videos in my new garage so stay tuned. You’re right they probably would have charge me at least $100 to change that $4 seal and they probably wouldn’t have filed that burr off either causing it leak again. Thanks for watching. Be safe. 👍

Greetings PABB. I just watched your demo/vlog of (I think) June 2019 and you mentioned a desire for an electric windshield. Then I got to thinkin', do you think aftermarket companies like Memphis Shields, Klock Werks, LRS, etc. are paying H-D a %age of their sales to NOT put electric windshields on their touring models?
@PABeardedBiker3 жыл бұрын
Hey man. Thanks for subbing my channel. I subbed yours also. You brought up a great theory. You never know what’s going on behind the scenes. All those companies would lose a lot of sales if Harley went to electric shields. Interesting. Thank you. 🤔

I always enjoy your how-to video series. Looks like a straight forward fix. Is that little rubber seal on ever shifter from Harley? Thanks again for the great video! Ride Safe
@PABeardedBiker4 жыл бұрын

Thanks. Just got a 95 sporty that has a small leak. Did you drain the sump first ?

No, I didn’t. The seal was higher than the fluid level. There wasn’t a mess at all. Thanks for watching. 👍

hey man so i cant figure out what to search for my issue, hopefully you might know, I have a 07 sportster as well and down where the clutch cable line goes in by the shifter it has a grease like build up on the cable and I'm not sure what to buy in order to fix it. its not an oil leak. if you have an email i can send you a picture if that explanation is to confusing
@PABeardedBiker2 жыл бұрын
Lol, mine does the same thing. I think the oil seeps there just a tiny bit. Mine has never leaked enough to cause issues though. I just wipe it off when washing my bike. There may be a seal there but like i said it doesn’t leak onto the ground or anything so I just wipe it off when cleaning my bike. Thanks for watching. Ride safe. 👍
@chahtanamedjeff3 жыл бұрын
I just noticed mine today. The rubber spacer is all the way out of the primary. How important is it to fix immediately, it's my only transportation?
@PABeardedBiker3 жыл бұрын
I let mine go for a while. As long as it’s not leaking you’re ok. If it starts leaving some oil on the floor after it’s been parked you should change it. You don’t want to burn up your primary. That costs big bucks$$$.
@chahtanamedjeff3 жыл бұрын

Any ideas on how to get a new seal to seet if a socket isnt working?
@PABeardedBiker Жыл бұрын
If the socket isn’t working I would take a piece of wood and gently tap the wood around the seal and see if that works. You don’t want to damage the seal. Hope that helps.

I need to replace the shaft itself do you know if I need to pull entire clutch basket or can I slip it out around the basket the shaft is bent but not leaking yet 2018 iron 883 Same case from what I can tell
@PABeardedBiker4 жыл бұрын
Chris Elmore sorry to hear that. I think your going to have to take the basket off. There is a plate directly behind the basket connected to the shifter shaft that will need taken of in order for the shaft to come out. I found a great video for you that explains it better. Look up Sportster Primary Disassembly. The KZbin channel is Hammer Performance. They take the whole primary apart and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Hope this helps. Let me know how the shaft change goes. Be safe and thanks for the comment. 👍
@Chris-sd4ri4 жыл бұрын
PA Bearded Biker Thanks for the reply I actually watched that very video I believe the basket will have to come off in order to get the shift shaft assembly around that star shaped cogwheel I believe it’s a selector I’m pretty confident in my abilities to get it done but the same rate The bike rides fine and doesn’t leak with only 6000 miles I’ll probably just continue to ride it like it is When It gets cold this winter I’ll probably get bored and take care of it and do the clutch while I’m in there replacing for a performance extra disk
