We just did this in our bathroom! Thanks for the tips about the screws, as our walls were a bit wonky and the 1/8" plywood didn't fit flat on some parts, so the glue and screws made it work! Thanks for the great video!

Did you use marine grade plywood with a waterproof glue holding the veneers together?
@ericdavis166011 ай бұрын
Depending on where you live, that could be a useful upgrade. I grew up in the desert, so there has been a learning-curve to living a few blocks from the beach. Boy, especially an issue for my tools.

What did you do about the unfinished edges of the boards within the gaps? Will moister eventually get in the cracks and cause rot?

Hi, have you had any problems in regard to moisture? We want to put shiplap in our restroom but are afraid that the moisture will ruin the job or cause further problems? Thank you for any tips and/or advice.

How do you keep them from warping or bowing from the moister or humidity in the bathroom?
@duin2in5 жыл бұрын
If the boards are painted and you have a good ventilation cieling fan you should be fine
@ericdavis166011 ай бұрын
If you live in a humid environment, you might use a lot of Paulownia. It is a wood that is naturally resistant to taking on moisture. Also, it is lighter than most comparable solid boards, so good for nickel- gap/ship-lap installations.

~ What do you suggest I use for an interior of a shed 1/4" or 1/2" plywood, where I'll also be adding insulation and poly to the walls? Great video, and thank you for sharing!

Are the corner mitered or just put up next to each other? I have thick molding around my interior doors, should I do anything special for that?
@SgtDonovan6 жыл бұрын
They are not mitered. If you can put the boards right up to the trim you’ll caulk around the door frame and it’s ready to paint.

Getting boards that thin, does the depth of the gap look to shallow? After its been done for a while would you recommend a thinker board? If it looks good then great ill get these boards.

Don't waste time and money with screws when 1 1/2" Brad nails are faster and easier to fill and paint
@SgtDonovan4 жыл бұрын
the screws I used are there just to hold the panels tight to the wall until the glue dries in areas where the wall isn't completely flat
@twinenk156 жыл бұрын
I noticed you are working from top to bottom. Does this work better than from bottom to top, like installing tiles on a wall?
@how2q6 жыл бұрын
I think the thought process is you won't really notice "smaller" boards at the bottom, looks like there is a pretty tall baseboard which helps cover up any inconsistencies.
@zx10rpower173 жыл бұрын
ALL finish carpenters are taught to start from the top. It’s easier to hide imperfections towards the floor. Also, many floors are extremely unlevel. As any flooring guy or cabinet installer.

Is that bullnose a tile ? I'm tiling on my end and im trying to figure out if I should use bullnose made for the tile (don't like it) or should use those PVC lips. But now your shower looks great. Any tips?

why take the screws out just caulk over them and let them ride if you're gonna take the time to put them in.

@kbob84244 жыл бұрын
@@SgtDonovan yes you are correct. But there are 2 different sheets sold that are 1/4'ish. One is the typical rough knotty pine looking plywood and the other is the smother more uniform in color Luan. I've debated back and forth on which to use.
