I don't know who had the most fun organizing, Gina or me. The UP has the same snow and ice mess you do. I shovel, then broom the area between the house and garage but normally get overwhelmed by Jan but this year my son has moved in and he has kept the area snow blowed so naturally I shoveled and broomed more so there is a rime of ice over all. We are expecting above freezing this week and the deer are exploiting the bare dead grass. Gave in and fed the wild turkeys dry cat food that cat rejected. Woodpeckers a pleasure to watch. Crows are lurking.

Your projects look just beautiful. I was thinking of so many other applications this could be used for. I'm a home sewer. I have been sewing for more than 57 years. I have all sorts of tools and jars of buttons, zippers, threads and so on. A bookcase on top. And also for gardening things. You have given me inspiration to try my hand at some organization in some areas around my home. I am so proud of both of you for all you have been able to accomplish this winter with all of your building projects! Jobs well done guys.

The ducks might be drinking the dirty water so they can get sand in their gizzards to help break down their food for digestionalso . Any type of crushed seafood shell containg calcium is good for the birds . It helps them form stronger egg shells.

Al and/or Gina, you should add a mid-shelf under your workbench and build storage totes to store tools/supplies that you don't use very often. Maybe even add a pegboard on the wall for screwdrivers, hammers, squares, and other various hand tools. Keep up the great work.

Happy birthday Al, that was my uncles name too. He was an master cabinet maker. So for your birthday I’m going to give you a present he taught me years ago. The design and function of your pigeon hole cabinets are fantastic. If you check the right side of your Dewalt sliding compound mitre saw just below the blade you will find a small lever for setting the blades depth. Utilizing that adjustment you can set the blade so it can’t come all the way down to the table. For instance if you stop the blade 3/8” before it reaches the table you will be able to cut rabbets and dado cuts in the material you are using. When making pigeon hole cabinets just cut all the vertical supports with evenly space dados all the horizontals will slide into place locking the cabinet together and can actually be reset later for future needs. When making things like bench legs you won’t need to double up 2x4s to creat a dado and the joint will be stronger as well as saving 50% on material. There is nothing like a half lap joint to add strength to any project, and dados will help to force warped and twisted lumber back into a straight usable board.

Continuing my treck through old LA episodes, which began when Al and Gina made a reference to breaking their work top table whilst making sausages in October... so I went back to last year and have watched from the point where they built the log shed and where Al used the telegraph pole as part of his fencing.. I will get two christmas's this year, having already celebrated festivities once already when A-G& O did. I have to say from her first day working inclusively on the farm and her building of the rock wall round the firewood shed to now, Gina has evolved amazingly and has clearly gained much more confidence in herself as a result. As for tidying workshops, the first job I ever had was working in a cabinet making factory where part of my job was to keep the place clean and tidy and I remember an old guy once said to me how important it was to keep the work-place where you work every day, clean and tidy. It makes you feel so much more relaxed, and I have to say I could see his point, and have maintained that same point-of-view now for over forty years. I have a tendency to clean up as I go...

So a cool little shop organization trick I saw forever ago was taking old canning jars and lids and attaching the lid to the bottom of a shelf so you can put odds and end screws/small parts into the jars and then screw them onto the lids. That way if you need a random part, screw, etc. they are easy to see and it keeps them from being a mess.

When a man says he’ll do something, he will. There’s no need to remind him every six to eight months.” Lol Thanks for the reminder guys😉 we had a good chuckle. Nice work as always too! Happy Birthday, Al. Jina here's a time saving tip: get a Vidalia Chop Wizard. It's a wonderful tool. I've had one for years. It comes with 2 sizes of grid blades: fine and coarse. Another tip if you get one: hold the heel of one hand over the hinge part of the top while smacking the other end while chopping...it will save that hinge, (which will eventually weaken), and will last much longer. Not that expensive. either. Blessings.

I've been wanting to suggest this for awhile (I just don't leave comments very often on any channels I watch) but Gina, if you cut your onion in half from the root to the tip, it is a lot easier to hold when the half is sitting flat and less likely to cut yourself. Happy Birthday, Al. Love all the organization and that you're putting tools back in place. Can't get over all that snow! We had none in New Castle, Delaware this winter. Love your videos! Started watching when Hope flew in from Arizona, so I've had the pleasure of watching Hope, Little-P, Magnolia, Little Man and Tanner grow up. Am gradually going back to watch your older videos, and WOW has Olivia shot up! Was wondering if you could give some back story, old pics or old video clips about Figero and Pluto. Have to admit I'm partial to Figero, in part because he could be the reincarnation of my late tuxedo cat, Shadow, who literally followed me everywhere for 19 years.

Happy Belated Birthday from east of Atlanta, GA, Al! Your final comments hit home with me. On those days when I get down on myself for feeling like nothing has been done, I make a list of everything I've done that day and continue it for the next couple of days. Even the smallest things - like feeding myself and the dogs a couple of times a day - take time and are worthy of being recognized. Before you know it, I realize how much I actually HAVE accomplished and start to feel better about myself and inspired to get more done. Wall unit looks great! I like the idea another poster had of using French cleats instead of making it stationary. Trying to think of how to use it in my storage, lol. Hope you had a WONDERFUL birthday filled with lots of fun, love and happy surprises!

Goooooooooood Morning Al , Gina & Olivia , The workshop is so cool. Do you do a little happy dance every morning when you first go into the workshop ? I know that I would . It's so good to have a dedicated workshop . Having a helpful co-worker like Gina also makes life so much better. It has warmed up a little here in Northeastern Ohio. I finally have my chicken tractor unfrozen from the ground. The chickens have finally been moved onto some fresh grass. It's still brown grass but they seem to like it anyway. I will probably move them now every second day. It's a really nice chicken tractor but golly it is a little heavy. The rain collection for their water supply seems to be working well . I think that I am going to add some towing hooks so I can move the chickens with my garden tractor. I have a chicken tractor made to your design also . I think that I am going to modify it to include some roosts and nesting owes . HAPPY BIRTHDAY !

Al as a suggestion for your Gates the hinge side of the gate you should have a higher Pole with a cable coming down from the top all the way to the gate opening if you stretch enough it will keep the gate from sagging making it easier to open and close even in the winter time. All Farmers have done this in the past we never had metal gates they had wooden gates. Look at historical pictures and you understand what I'm saying
