Thanks for explaining the purpose of the CPS and the symptoms - I have experienced all of them and the dealership was telling me it was a tire problem?! Go figure - I hate service from dealerships. Your explanation was right on and I was getting the P0335 error code. I had to be stern to the service tech that this is what I want replaced. I will find out this week when I get my Santa Fe back!

I have a 2008 4.0 Ford Ranger, the timing chain guides were worn out so I pulled the engine and put all new timing chains and guides in it along with all new gaskets. (3 timing chains) After putting the engine back in the truck it started and ran perfect.. until it got it up to 3k rpms and it would misfire like crazy. I even tore the engine back apart to make sure it was set in time right and it is. I checked everything and have done all kinds of research while taking a week break from working on it. Now it misfires at 1500 rpms. The only code I get is a P0320 which says the computer cannot get an accurate reading on the engine speed. I have a professional OBD scan computer that allows me to see live data and all sorts of other things. Everything is perfect fuel wise, all the O2 sensors are working perfectly, and nothing is evident.. I actually switched the camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor from an identical parts truck and it made it worse. It definitely seems like an electrical issue. Im about to buy both sensors new and hope that it fixes everything. There’s nothing online that really tells me anything so I’m not so sure. Edit: I’ve put 15k miles on the truck previous to pulling the engine and it’s never once thrown a code or had a single problem ever. So it’s really throwing me for a loop! Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I had this code (0388) pop up at the exact same time another code popped up, the other code was 0302, the check engine light came on, but after clearing the codes, it never came back, I recently had my spark plugs changed, and everything looks fine, when I start the car, the engine sputters at low speed or idle, and the RPM stick bounces up and down, I can hear the misfire, but I don’t know what it is, do you have any idea?

V - It certainly still could be the sensor. Other thoughts with sputtering is fueling related. Keep us updated here.

Kia Soul starts easily but stalls when stopping sometimes with no codes. Thinking Idle Control is dirty or the Crankshaft Sensor. Going to start with idle control and see what I get...

So this will cause other codes to pop up? I changed out my coils and spark plugs but the scanner is saying crankshaft position sensor and there is engine misfire but I changed them out. If I just change out the sensor will those codes most likely go away?

C - There is a high likelihood of them going away. But won't know until after replacing.

D - What code specifically? There are many different CPS codes.

Changed my CPS with an OEM and did relearn and it cleared. The car went back to the same issue as before. It’s a Honda Accord 2010. It’s comes and goes. It’s intermediate

@@8020Media I know I had the po339 and took it to a mechanic to relearn it. The crazy thing is that yesterday I started it and this time got a flashing check engine light that put the car in limp mode but lucky for me I work 3 minutes from my house. don’t have a ODB code reader but ordered one. I was able to start again the car with no flashing check engine flashing but on. I took my other car for now. The thing is that I thought relearning it you need to gas the car at certain RPM and hold it but his scanner didn’t tell him to do that. I didn’t have to pay him as I know one of the workers there. He thought it might be a false read due to timing belt maybe since it was never changed before

T - They don't always spark CEL's. Therefore, you may want to check out the sensor.

question- cadillac cts 2008 . when i drive it drives fine then the battery light comes on and code pops up saying service battery charging system and my power steering starts to act up as well but , when i start it in the morning it will run like brand new then after maybe 10-15 minutes the mph needle drops to 0 and the radio and electric stuff goes in and out but it still runs. wondering if its this crankshaft thing or would it have something to do with the alternator? also will stay stuck in gear its left in pls help lol !

Where is the crankshaft sensor located on 2012 Buick Verano?

B - It's located on the engine above the transmission housing.

@@8020Media I had different people telling me it’s under the oil filter housing or on the back side of the engine on passenger side or the same for on driver side. Diagram I got is no help from others.

what if you have no engine code??? i have 2008 civic 1.8L and i am struggling to find issue with cold start misfire. I have changed spark plugs, coils and injectors. Also, check O2 sensor, MAF sensor and EGR all are fine. Please let me any line of action i take next

I have a question, I have a 2010 335i. A few days ago my engine sputtered, knocked and stalled while starting to drive in first gear. Started again and had slight misfires on cylinder 3 and 5. The day after it will only crank after stalling on its own. Changed all the obv, spark plugs, coil packs, checked hoses for the fuel pump and sender. I hear my fuel pump actuating but i think its not sending fuel over. My scanner wont see any codes after i cleared them like an idiot. Would this be the sensor? Ive been struggling what else to check. I have it hooked up to jumper cables to see if it would be battery. Only starts with starter fluid, so its for sure a fuel issue. Would love a response so i can solve this already. Its been very annoying. Thank you!

I have a 2001 bmw 325xi Been having problems for a while now.The latest I change the cam.Position sensor. The car ran great for a week Then Started acting up in the morning miss fire and etc.. a p1347 code came up And other miss fires , is it possible that it could be my crank sensor

Does it matter how strong the magnetic force is? I bought a sensor it seens the magnet isn’t as strong as the previous sensor i had installed
