I did a big chop a year an half ago but I had too because the heat damage was so severe my hair was coming out as I comb or condition it...I was depressed behind it. I never had a relaxer but I use to get a silk press often from my stylist...so I'm very afraid of heat damage, right now my hair is mid back and I often wear it really big just for the heck of it and I'm so proud of my kinky hair. I don't plan on straightening again.

I almost forgot about all the different steps to doing my hair. I usually wash and air dry. My hair used to be thick like yours, but I think meds like blood pressure & thyroid and going through some things like grief has caused my hair to thin or all of the above, but still grateful for life health & strength I do have. Hair looks very healthy. I cover my ears with a sock when i press my hair. I use the original pressing comb but the electric version. 😁 My hair doesn’t stay press looking for long it’s too ‘thick’, pressing just makes it easier to comb. 💜

Habiba🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you are killing me😂😂. Your hair is very healthy & because it is so thick, you'd have to do another press or more heat for it to be silkier but it looks great. Yes, it's truly giving Dr. Tunau (sp)! Thanks for being the 'guniea pig' in this experiment. I've wanted to try a silk press but do not have the patience. Shea Moisture products for me or my local Jamaican natural hair products...Ettenio with our black castor oil, etc. Thanks for this. That flat iron is tempting me to purchase🙈

I just purchased a Revair to stretch my monthly twists. I haven't received it yet. Do you think you will ever test a Revair dryer out? Also your grey is pretty- pls don't dye it😍

Thank you for watching and commenting! Short hair is nice on many people especially depending on face shape but in my opinion very short hair doesn’t suit me so transitioning worked for me. I stopped relaxing for one year and during that time wore low manipulation styles before cutting off the straight ends. Good luck 👍🏽

Wow, Habiba! Your silk press came out beautifully. I was natural in my early teen years but I do not miss those days of getting my hair pressed. Currently, relaxed b/c of the maintenence that natural hair requires. However, I am considering transitioning again. Living in Florida w/all of the humidity is really influencing my decision as to whether not to revert, time will tell. Tfs

I had relaxed hair for years bc of school & then hectic work schedule. I would touch up monthly and then was diagnosed with multiple serious fibroid tumors, followed by surgery, but never linked the two together then. I haven’t had a perm in over a decade, but always had braids or wigs protective styles so I frequently cut my natural hair. We must take the lye relaxer studies seriously as it’s also linked to breast cancer. My kids have been off relaxer for a few years as well and we aren’t going back, esp not now with the risks involved , but I can sympathize with women who live in high humidity areas and the difficulties of maintaining natural styles. Please do your research to see the best solutions for you and look into no-lye relaxers to see if these are safe. Best of luck.

Habiba I wash my hair let it air dry on large rollers or twist it. My hair is a mix of 3c and 4a. Pressing is a lot of a work. I have lots of gray in the back of my hair and it drives me crazy. I straighten my hair once a month. You did a great job.

Your hair is the same texture, thickness and length as mine, and the end results looks very similar. I always do a side part; more glamorous/sophisticated to me. I go through the same thing when I wash my hair, and my arms get so tired!
