This video shows how to detect toilet leaks on typical American style home toilets and in this case I am repairing a dual-flush flapper system. The dual flush can save you lots of money in the long run as it uses less water to flush for #1 and gives a full flush for #2.
I believe the main reason my system needed repair was due to chlorine tablets used in the water closet. Chlorine tablets will attack many things in addition to the funk you're trying to prevent in your toilet bowl -- in my case it caused a zip tie inside the water closet to become weak and break. It also started to eat away at the rubber ring used to keep the flapper valve assembly in place. Don't use chlorine tablets!
Spoiler alert: I didn't need to replace any parts to make this repair; I merely added a hose clamp to help keep the dual-flush assembly securely sealed to the opening in the water closet where a traditional flapper ball normally be found.
I didn't have any issues with the fill valve system but was pleased to learn it has some user-serviceable parts. All I did was clean these parts and inspect for any issues. The fill valve is a Korky anti-siphon design and Korky has a very useful KZbin video describing how to clean and service this valve at • Korky QuietFILL Toilet...
The dual flush system I use on my toilet is made by MJSI Inc called the HydroRight and their product web site is at www.goMJSI.com/
