Can you convert a Mansfield flush valve with this duo flush valve?
@jimdavidson52087 жыл бұрын
Also with the jacked up install, that blue bowl fill hose is supposed to be installed higher than the fill valve so it doesn't siphon. It's all in the directions for installation.

Sounds like we need to get an updated video loaded since some of the specs have changed.

You are correct that the cleaning jets are supposed to be on the bottom of the tank, but it looks like you have it connected to the fill tube output. If it is incorrectly connected, you will find that the bowl does not fill with very much water after you flush.
@SnazzyNaz20205 жыл бұрын
Yeah I noticed that you have the J tube connected to fill valve that should be used to fill the toilet bowl

Good points
@jimdavidson52087 жыл бұрын
Why is the J tube installed AT the bowl fill port? It goes at the bottom of the fill valve. You know the part in the directions that says to angle towards the back of the tank?

You are correct. It is connected to the wrong part of the valve.

Not sure- we made this video over a decade ago. I think it is still for sale if you want to see if it works. I don't think it was a large investment last time I checked.

I purchased one of these kits at my local Home Depot and love it! However it did not come with the tube that sits at the bottom of the tank for cleaning, I kept looking at the instructions wondering if it was a part that you have to purchase separately but I guess it just wasn't included in the box.
@Miltn728 жыл бұрын
same thing just happened to me. no J tube.
@jimdavidson52087 жыл бұрын
That cleaning tube comes in model HYR460. Or you could of opened the box and examined the package. I had to return one cause of missing parts, beware. You really don't need the tube. The fill valve really creates a whirlpool and will flush any junk down. Home Depot sells the HYR451 with no J tube.

Actually what your referring to are the cleaning jets, it is supposed to be on he bottom cleaning out the tank with every flush. Hence the reason why its called HydroClean.

Some people are complaining about the zip tie deteriorating over time, and thus causing a malfunction and wasting lots of water. I wonder why a plastic zip tie can deteriorate within just 6 months as someone claims at the home depot web site. Anyone knows or is aware of this issue?
@SawHorseDesignBuild4 жыл бұрын
It could have to do with additives in the water. I did not have this experience with my installation though.

THAT BUTTON STICKS OUT FAR, HOW DOES THE TOILET SEAT STAY UP
@SawHorseDesignBuild4 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the original design of the toilet. I used this on a couple of toilets in my house and only one had a clearance issue, however the seat still stayed up.
@raywilliams60989 жыл бұрын
now your 1.6gpf bowl will not flush right because your going to be flushing 1.28 or less.. the bowl is made to use a specific gpf to operate correctly.
@jimdavidson52087 жыл бұрын
How could it be? Jasper Williams, after purchasing one of these for HIS own toilet says it won't flush? Where's his receipt?

The push button seems more easy to explain to people rather than a lever where either you push up or down depending on what you just did, not to mention how many times does an ordinary lever need replacement due to a child pulling down on it too hard...as for the cleanliness of it I'm guessing that's just part of the job, who really knows just how much more a lever is cleaner than a button...

Both are pretty dirty since people touch them with their hands before washing. I would disinfect any type of high touch point in the house to reduce the spreading of germs.

Dude, you did not install it right. That tube that sits on the bottom of tank should be connected to a different part (look on the bottom the float mechanism). You have it incorrectly connected the fill tub connector (fill tube should connect to this and attach to fill tube).

AND, that kit goes on a toilet that has the flush button on TOP of the tank cover.
@SawHorseDesignBuild4 жыл бұрын
There are kits that can conform to most types of toilets. The button can be put on the front as well.

I guess I'm old school, because I think this thing is absolutely stupid. Moved into a new house with these installed on every toilet. I hate them. No one ever uses the first flusher, and now one of them flushes every 30 minutes. Can we please just leave toilets alone? It's not saving anything when it flushes 20 times a day or you have to flush it 3 times to get waste down or the kids use the wrong button every time.
@SawHorseDesignBuild4 жыл бұрын
It is best to have a toilet already with this feature- however in some areas water costs are really high and this retrofit can help. Keep in mind that you need to have a good toilet in the first place. If is cannot currently flush solids well- this will not make it any better.
@chechnya12 жыл бұрын
How is that any different from a normal flusher? People should WASH THEIR HANDS anyway.
