Hi, Nice video, I enjoyed. Can you tell me what size pressure treated board you used to mount the Box rail and size construction screws? You used.

I have a 24 foot building and want to put a 12 foot wide and 10 foot high opening for a slidiinig door. The doors would be about 6 foot wide would this method work or would you do your swing open doors?

The end caps are for the end of the track to stop the rollers from being pushed through the openings at the end of the rail. I think the company expects everyone to know to drill your own self tappers through the end caps into the rail. Our end cap had a pre drilled hole in it but that hole didn't work and we had to drill our own. Otherwise they look useless without holes drilled in .

Thanks! They look completely different than the ones in the pics on line and they are flimsy like tin foil! Thanks for watching. Have a great evening.

@@LancoAmish So, I see one glaring mistake on my project. I didn't take into account the size of my lumber. I wound up using 5/4", and with three layers across the top i wound up with a door that is 3-3/4". If it were plained it would have only been 2-1/4". I resolved to put the trolley to the inside of the door since building the rail out any more appears to be less stable. Ah, well. Rookie mistake. Thanks for your vids.

@@yshuaizlord , you figured out a way to make it work and that’s the end game!

I had to attach the brackets to a 2x4 and been spread them 1/8 inch. Then I had to mill file the burs off and get a wider tolerance to get it to slide smoothly over the glide bar
@LancoAmish4 жыл бұрын
They do need adjustment for certain situations. I was able to get away with the 1 inch deck board. That thickness made for a pretty tight fitting door into my door closures.

Can you tell me where you got the kit from. I am trying to buy a kit for my shop. Thanks.
@LancoAmish2 жыл бұрын
Zoro.com. “Hanging barn door hardware”. I think I purchased 2 parts. The hanging hardware as one and the tracks as the other. I went with 2-6 footers as the shipping was much cheaper than 1 - 12 footer.

Do you a list of material you used for barn doors I want a set on end of our house n measurements
@LancoAmish2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Materials will vary depending on the size of doors. 2 by lumber for the cross pieces and boards for the doors themselves. The hinges are Gate strap hinges but other types can be used also.

Did you put glue on the tongue and groove?

No, just the cross pieces.

Having horizontal members outside overlaying the vertical boards will cause rot sooner than later. I put all my framing (2x’s) on back and have a flat face of tongue and groove vertical boards.

Thanks for watching. I’m very pleased with the doors. I had a metal track cover formed at a local roofing company to keep the weather off the track. So far so good.

What size kit?
@LancoAmish Жыл бұрын
The rollers and associated hardware come as a kit. Will work for any sized door. The track comes in different lengths for the job. I went with 2 pieces and butted them against each other. Longer lengths require more expensive shipping.
