So that's where all my good deli provided Tupperware goes! Hope I never need to repossess any of it, your carefully crafted house of cards projects would all come tumbling down just because I had extra green beans. But seriously, I love how concerned you are with fumes and safety and all of it. Thanks for that!

Alright, two more things, 1. how'd you get to be so smart, and 2. that wire cutting thingy that you made to cut the foam board is magicality! I know I'm simple.

Nice work! Since the flue access is blocked off, you might add a quick disconnect plug at the other end so there's no airflow during the winter when you don't want it. Course you'd need that if you add more hookups too.
@AveRage_Joe6 жыл бұрын
I did think about that and was feeling for cold air but didnt feel any. Maybe because the vent goes straight up and has a bunch of turns???? I found one of those flappy things in the hoard pile you put inline with a vent hose. Course one side is pretty big and other is square but I think I could make it work if needed!
@tedz746 жыл бұрын
What happened to spot welding the 4s packs? I have a arduino spot welding (V3.3) and and use it with an old car battery, works awesome. Oh, that flexible duct is really lousy for long distances, too much pressure drop. Maybe you could add a second inline fan for a push/pull approach. But it seems to working as is, better than nothing!

Your idea is almost the same as mine, good minds think alike. I had the same vent tubing, adapters and all. But I was going to tie it into the upstairs bathroom vent pipes that go out the roof and put a fan in the middle in the ceiling with a remote switch. Then I decided to sell the house, so I’m waiting until I buy another to do this. But I still have the parts. If you put a few more also put one to bring in fresh air and maybe make a natural cross draft ventilation? Like opening the flume on a fireplace and cracking a window. It might work, and fresh air is always good.
@AveRage_Joe6 жыл бұрын
There you go NICE! Our house is super drafty from being insulated (NOT) in the 50's so fresh air all the time LOL

Well we just got hit with that winter storm and lost power for 14 hours, so my fireplace was in use. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqCQm4uIZ56rjNE Good idea, I just need to make sure my next house is built in the 50 and has drafts. I’m looking in S.C. and N.C. so older homes won’t be an issue. I like the all brick colonial home anyway.
@AveRage_Joe6 жыл бұрын
Nice, just saw the fire!!! Yeah our house was built in the 50s as well. Not much for insulation but it will get there........one day lol😆
@korishan6 жыл бұрын
Hey, does your place have a dumb waiter or a chute on the outside wall? The chute could be about a 1x1 ft hole or such. If so, that might be how you're supposed to get the wood down the fireplace ;) I suppose there could be a dedicated door for that, too. I've seen that as well.
@AveRage_Joe6 жыл бұрын
It has a little door thingy in the garage but its about 5ft off the ground and maybe 1ft square. I thought this could of been for that use but it still doesnt make it an easy task so not sure lol!
@korishan6 жыл бұрын
@@AveRage_Joe Ahhh, about 5ft. Hmm, that's about the right height for the tailgate of a truck. In the old days, a wood truck probably backed up to the port, and they toss log after log in. Then it was up to the owner to stack the logs in the basement. They would buy them by the cord if I remember correctly. You can still buy split logs by the cord even now. There's several ppl around here that do that from their homes, too.
@AveRage_Joe6 жыл бұрын
Thats a possibility!!! Yeah theres people here sellin wood as well. Bought some one winter when power went out but that was years ago!!! I have a cord or 2 in the back yard for just such occasion lol
@korishan6 жыл бұрын
@@AveRage_Joe I've been heating the house with wood this year. No electric heating yet. Still need to do some adjustments to the build. It's basically a work in progress until I can get all the material to rebuild it with exactly the right layout. I have pictures and a couple vids showing the setup. Will be posting a video about it soon (that could be in 3 months soon 😜 ) I might do another vid recording to show different things in general. It's all a WIP 😎
@AveRage_Joe6 жыл бұрын
If I had a wood burning stove in the basement I would more likely use it since they can put out so much more heat for longer periods or maybe even a pellet stove! Yeah let me know when you do a video(in 3 months😂) and Ill check it out for sure!!! Everything is a WIP!!!!!😆💥

Do these fans work better “blowing” or “sucking”? Been soldering since 1971, (5th grade) and thinking I need something to deal with the fumes…. Want quiet, especially given I’m going to be doing *batteries* in the future.
@AveRage_Joe3 жыл бұрын
Thats a great question. Im not sure which way is better. I almost went with one of those growroom fans cause there supose to be super quiet but decided to just use the fans I had for the cheapo way out lol. It seems to work pretty good! What all you planning on building battery wise?

nice job with the installation of the ducting, but I would pay a little for a proper extractor fan, seen as the length of ducting is going to cause a big pressure increase, those PC fans aren't designed for that, so the amount of air you are moving won't be very high at all...but hey if you know it's definitely sucking up everything you need then...a hydroponics extractor would be much quieter and shift way more air though!
@AveRage_Joe6 жыл бұрын
I almost got one of those fans! Had it in the cart on ebay and was about to checkout but thought hell..... I could probly use a bigger fan I have laying around. Yeah if it doesnt keep up or if I have issues I have a squirrel cage fan from a hotsy that might do the trick!
@lamarr19866 жыл бұрын

@@AveRage_Joe maybe a automatic switch that detects your presence. My kids have reduced a half sheet insulation board to a couple of inches of foam scraps. It does make for a good fire starter. My suggestion is to put carbon filters on the end, and not blow the exhaust out the chimney. When you vent out to the outside, you're sucking air back into the house from someplace, most likely cold air from outside. Recirculate in the house and make sure to filter with carbon filters. Clean air, warm air, all contained inside the envelope of your home. Good luck
